Strange. It just so happens that I mount my volume for portable browsing on the H drive as well. I even tried the experiment on my Win10 laptop with the same setup. It still doesn't recognize LO. Firefox also doesn't keep me logged in. I was logged in here before unmounting and shutting down before, and had clicked on "remember me". I was logged out when I came back. I can't reproduce your issue with LibreOffice Writer. I created a 25GB test VC volume on a secondary W11 PC that has no 'Office' sofware on it at all, on the E: drive, and mounted it to H:, and installed LibreOfficePortable to folder 'LibreOffice'. (Note: I never accept the pointless default behaviour of 'Portable Apps' installers - .paf.exe files - of installing the sofware in a subfolder of the folder I say I want it installed in, using the apps name ie 'LibreOfficePortable' in this case.) I'm actually using 2 different laptops. The Dell uses Win10 (and has been having other issues) and my Lenovo was upgraded to Win11 a few weeks ago. I have them both set up the same way and have actually had better results with the Lenovo. It seems to retain autofill and passwords better than the Dell does. I dismounted the drive from the router connected it to the computer an ran VeraCrypt as administrator. Then the encrypted file was mounted. It would perhaps haved worked as well with the drive still connected to the router.

Yes, I agree with the disagree to thing. I hope I have kept this civil, and as earlier stated I have the utmost respect for Mounir. I was anyway getting new smart cards (easier said than done) from Microcosm.uk. I wrote to them about this matter, and they said they did not know because the module was made by an OEM (Feitian). I will update on how this works out, if anyone's interested. Anyway, thanks for your feedback, and I would probably have said the same, if not personally affected by this.

Yes, in the case of Windows hardware changes, their is little choice and if Veracrypt cannot use modules with dcg due to MS security policies, then fine. What operating system/version are you running? And are you using 'Portable Apps' versions of Chrome and Libre Office? I may be able to help troubleshoot this by experimentation - seeing if I can reproduce your issues, and what steps might resolve it. On Windows, I cannot replicate your issue. Test Method: Click Create Volume button. Create File Container with size set to greater> 4 GB. Large Files : No > Results in FAT being the default filesystem. Large Files : Yes > Results in exFAT being the default filesystem. . Any volume > 2 TB will not get the Large Files screen due to FAT filesystem has a maximum filesystem size of 2 TB.

Not a big deal, but v1.26.24 does not choose the correct formatting. When 'large files' are selected in create volume, the default choice becomes Fat32.

Hi, When trying to create an encrypted partition, get an 'access is denied' error. Source:volTransformThreadFunction:2769 The partition resides on an external Nvme connected by thunderbolt. EDIT - this was due to using an older version of VC; v1.26.24 does not give any error.

So when trying to select the aseCardCryptoCSP.dll for the pkcs11 module, get an error 'The operation was blocked as the process prohibits dynamic code generation' and 'source: Veracrypt:security token:init library 534'. This occurs on both win 10 and 11, yet 1.25 worked in both win versions. EDIT - ok, so it's a new security feature by VC. Nothing to do but use a different library/card.

I have a veracrypt file and I put half of its storage as a hidden partition. I want to write and read in both partitions. it seems that writing in the hidden partition doesnt affect the outer partition at all because it is encapsulated inside of the outer partition, but what about writing in the outer partition? there is an option to prevent damage to the hidden partition while you write in the outer partition (you put here your hidden partition password). FWIW the container is stored on a Linux box and accessed from Windows 11. But I miss in VeraCrypt a function/menu "format/encrypt free space only". Where is it? There is no VeraCrypt option after you have formatted the volume to wipe the free space. You have to allow wiping the free space during the VeraCrypt format and select the number of wipes you want to perform. The purchased HDD should be already formatted for Windows with one large partition using NTFS for the entire drive. Following your directions, I was able to get the screenshot of Preferences from the Windows 11 desktop. I forgot I have an old unencrypted Windows 8.1 running with the same Preferences settings as the Windows 11. On the Windows 8.1, the Veracrypt application runs immediately minimized in the service tray, so I don't see why the Windows 11 Pro should be different. Maybe you do. Thank you..

Thank you. That explains exactly why the service doesn't run. I can't take an image of the Preferences, since I always set up Veracrypt with screenshots prohibited. I'm assuming the reason Veracrypt doesn't start minimized is because the disc is not encrypted. I can deal with what I thought was an anomaly until I encrypt the SSD. I've used Veracrypt for years on all my PCs and this is the first issue I've ever encountered. I recently installed 1.26.24 on a Windows 11 23H2 Pro with no disc encrypted. Veracrypt does not start minimized in my system tray (as is the case with all my other PCs, which are encrypted) and the VeraCryptSystemFavorites service does not appear, even though I have listed Favorites. I can manually start Veracrypt and all System Favorites mount/dismount correctly; but the VeraCryptSystemFavorites service...

Assume this will not work, else you'd have got reactions. What I tried and found working is opening sticks encrypted in total with veracrypt portable 1.25.9 in linux with "sudo cryptsetup --type tcrypt open ..." . Thus assume there could be some option how to encrypt in Linux which provides option to open by Veracrypt? But haven't tried yet.
