Great looking game, but I can't get started.

There is no layered text on my game. The HUD is graphical only, and transaction menus are blank. Screenshots follow:

This issue has been previously reported here and did not seem to be resolved.

Like this user, I am running mac OSX. Game version is 0.5. System specs are as follows:

Previous entry suggests:

1) updating system - tried, I'm already updated
2) missing fonts - not knowing what fonts may be required, I don't know how to get at them (or install them for that matter).

Can anybody help? Thanks.
