"Great open source NAS" Posted 2023-06-27
Pros: - The zfs filesystem with a webui in front of it is the best storage solution I found. I always found it a shame that Reiserfs and btrfs developed so slowly. Zfs has all the necessary features builtin like checksumming, ssd acceleration within a pool, snapshotting.
- I particularly like the fact you can easily go back a truenas version by booting a previous zfs boot/root-snapshot. An update had an issue, so reverting to the previous truenas version, which was compatible with the rest was as easy as selecting the previous boot-version of zfs and restarting truenas.
- I also like the Kubernetes-integration, although a lot of work is still ahead to make it play nice with the complete Kubernetes ecosystem, although that's more the goal of the 3rd party repo, than Truenas itself seemingly. Anyway, it's possible.
- Setting up shares and security for backups and cloud sync is quite easy.
- All settings for TrueNAS can be exported to have a complete backup of the base system settings in case you need to restore the system.Cons: - The apps/Kubernetes setup could be improved
- Some features like the alerting with AWS SMS, email, is a bit hidden away, but once found super useful for alerts and very easy to setup.Overall: I hope they keep the community in mind and that the community also helps out, while they also focus on Enterprise customers of course. If so, this will be a very good open source/commercial storage/app solution. Hybrid cloud is a bit far fetched for now, although technically maybe even possible :). Good luck.

"3-2-1 For Fun!" Posted 2023-06-24
Pros: This product's integration with IX's TrueNAS Scale has been (so far) a beneficial part of my 3-2-1 backup strategy.
Cons: The IX-Storj plan is hidden if you do not select it the first time through. If it's a user's first time using Storj, give them some time to try it out and another chance at the opportunity.
Overall: So far, I think the integration with TrueNAS Scale is appreciated, and it's a great opportunity for an offsite backup of one's most important files.

"From Leadius_USA (Brad Dyke) review of Storj in my four deployments" Posted 2023-06-14
Pros: This works well with use of IX and adds more function to disk crypt processing. I have done this as native and then with IX (free version) and I found that IX can make it easier plus disk pooling really does break out the I/O work loads.
Cons: Still needs so more design work to bring things better together but it works No other cons so far.
Overall: I have done this deployment about four times now and now I add IX with in the build process vs. doing native deployment.

"Well worth the time" Posted 2023-06-14
Pros: * Consistent speeds for backing up / restoration. The speeds didn't just drop off a cliff after a few gigabytes
* 25GB free restoration per month. Let's me test out if files actually backed up like they were supposed toCons: Honestly, I'm sure I'll run into something, but it's been pretty great so far.
Overall: I would highly recommend them, and their TrueNAS Scale integration is excellent. Can't wait to see what else they'll add

Cons: So far nothing, the website and the cli tools are quite comprehensive and allow my common use cases to be applied easily.
Overall: Very good experience, hopefully it will stay like that in the long run. I like both the website with the ease of use and the CLI tool for scripting and automation!

Pros: I like the E2E of the CLI and the integration with TrueNAS. They have a good price, it's always available and their service has a good security system to protect your data.

"Storj is great" Posted 2023-06-03
Pros: Ever since TrueNAS has introduced me to Storj, it's worked amazingly and there is 0 data loss. I also love the amount of storage you get for free, 25GB!
Cons: I couldn't find any cons so far, maybe the key system? I guess you guys could specify that the middle one is what you need for TrueNAS.
Overall: I love Storj. I'm thinking of signing up soon since my NAS currently has 2TB and the free version only has 25GB, but don't get me wrong, thats the most I've ever seen for free on a storage provider.

"Extremely Promising" Posted 2023-06-01
Pros: Super simple but powerful UI, decent pricing, works it TrueNAS. It was a breeze to setup which makes it a plus when I get my family to try it!
Cons: At first it looked like it was a storage repository for GitHub or something similar. The marketing was a tad confusing for me at first but that might just be me being slow.
Overall: I have been using relatively recently but so far it has exceeded my expectations. I love the emphasis on security as many platforms seem to gloss over that for convenience.
