Fashion designers that need a tool to make patterns

About PatternMaker

PatternMaker is the primary program and is used to create patterns. Once patterns are created they can be exported into digital files that can be shared like any file on the Internet. There are different levels — versions — of PatternMaker. MacroGen is the program that creates the exported files. The exported files are called macros. The macros have the ability to accept different measurements so the pattern can be adjusted to fit. Macros are executed by PatternMaker. (Many computer programs have macros that exist in a digital, sharable format. For example, Microsoft Word and Excel have the ability to export macros for sharing.) So, to run a macro you need the PatternMaker program. Collection Creator combines many different patterns that are in macro form into a collection. A collection might be a group of summer dresses.

    "PatternMaker is a great software"

    Posted 2025-02-11

Pros: PatternMaker is a great CAD software. It has several levels that allows you to opt in at your budget and build up as you go. I started with professional studio and now use the grading studio. I also design garment patterns with Macrogen by PatternMaker. Its versatile and flexible for you. You can design from the scratch or work from predesigned templates.

Cons: I would like a few more features added like an auto save. Sometimes I lose my work.

Overall: It's easy to learn and there is always a new feature to explore. You can grow with it. I currently design custom patterns with it. It has formed a large part of my business. It as given me an economic leverage. Parametric software are pretty expensive but Macrogen by PatternMaker allows you to design parametric designs at less than four hundred dollars. That is remarkable. PatternMaker 7.5 is pretty good for pattern making. I can design and grade patterns. I create my designs as macros and just upload the clients' measurements to get the design in their measurements. It gives me very fast custom patterns. Now I also sell my macros to the public.
