Notepad++

Pros: It is easy to use and the interface is not confusing or messy. It keeps things simple, but incredibly powerful. Tabs, macros, plug-ins, etc - it just makes work so much better.

Cons: No cons - it's all good. I have used the product for so many years, that if a PC I'm using doesn't have it, I keep a USB stick with it on there. Love it!

Overall: I have used Notepad++ for close to 20 years. I've tried other fancy editors that people rave over, but I have always returned to Notepad++. It does what I want every time and I love the simplistic interface. I've heard others say that they don't care for the design, but I'll take substance over pretty any day. It just flat out rocks!

Cons: Notepad++ has no integrated collaborative capabilities and is primarily meant for solitary usage. Users might have to utilize third-party solutions for group coding or editing projects.

Overall: For those looking for a quick, light-weight text editor that offers strong coding and scripting functionality, Notepad++ is a great option. Because of its ease of use and wide range of plugin compatibility, developers love it for short tweaks and coding jobs.

3. Furthermore, it allows saving documents with various extensions and format.
4. It supports dark mode theme natively.
5. It has indentation feature as well as syntax highlighting for many programming languages.

Cons: 1. It is a lightweight note editor with some specific features which helps in programming, no cons in my opinion.

Overall: Overall, Notepad++ is a lightweight and straightforward text editor with some features that supports programming. It runs smoothly in every device.

- less features than fully-fledged IDEs like VSCode (autocomplete, etc)
- JSON formatting isn't the greatest

Overall: While it's ugly and less fully-featured than other editors, Notepad++ is extremely light-weight, and can be run on almost any machine. It is extensible via plugins and is completely free!

Pros: Notepad++ is a very solid text editor. It has a simple user interface and provides a nice list of features. For my purposes, the most useful was the ability to bookmark lines, macro effects in the search and replace screen and the various customization options.

Cons: My main concern with this tool is the aesthetic. While customizable, the process for doing so is cumbersome. This program also has less features than other editors such as Visual Studio code.

Overall: This was my main editor for many years prior to 2020 when I switched over to Visual Studio Code due to vision issues and issues with the user interface. This is a solid tool that provides a nice library of downloadable extensions and is fairly customizable and the ability for macros is very nice. That said, for most use cases I now prefer Visual Studio Code.

- It has all the necessary feature to support efficient programming like, syntax highlighting, debugging and plugin support.

Cons: - It lags while opening a large file.
- It does not have features like auto-completion and code formatting.

Overall: Overall, Notepad++ is a lightweight code editor that supports programming in almost all the languages. It has all the basic features and can run smoothly in any device.

Pros: Notepad++ is more than a simple professional replacement for the standard notepad included with all Microsoft Windows operating systems. It includes numerous capabilities that each developer needs, such as code formatting, coloring, vertical selection, case switching, and support plugins to add other functionality as needed in the future.

Cons: The most prevalent difficulty I've seen, for which I have yet to find a solution, is that it does not support Arabic language letter selection effectively; it occasionally selects from the opposite side of the line, which is due to the fact that Arabic is an RTL language. Although it includes the option to make the interface RTL, this does not totally fix the problem.

Overall: If you only want to edit a CSS file, HTML, JavaScript, or even PHP code on my local webserver, I've discovered that using the usual notepad is really difficult; however, utilizing Notepad++ makes coding and formatting code, as well as writing pure, accurate syntax code, very simple.

- Multiple files can be opened at once in multiple tabs.
- It automatically saves, highlights the syntax and do formatting of the code.

Cons: - The user interface of the application can be improved and made more modern looking and few features can be added such as Dark Mode.

Overall: Overall, Notepad++ is a lightweight code editor with all the programming language support. It is fast and easy-to-use with all the necessary tools and features.

2. The best feature is the auto-save that saves the hassle of manually saving after making changes every time.

Cons: 1. It does not provide auto-completion assistance while coding.

Overall: Overall, Notepad++ as the name suggest is more than just a notepad with features like code editing and text editing, it is a versatile and lightweight tool with a simple and easy to use user interface.

Pros: There are so many build in features for any data analyst and/or programmer that likes a nice clean environment without much taking over the workspace. Love to use this over a full application like VS Code or Brackets when all I need is to put together a quick script or small website.

Cons: The look and feel of the application could use some updating. It is very dated.

Overall: Been using this product for over 10 years and still haven't found another application to replace it on any new system installs.

Pros: It supports so many programming languages, great code highlighting, code folding, has text selection by column, incredible search and replace tools and you can even search in the search results.

Cons: It does not have a Linux version, although it runs very well through Wine.

Overall: It's my go-to app for text or source-code editing, string searching in very large files and all kinds of text selection and deep search.

Pros: 1. Its autosave feature saves the code automatically saving the progress in case of accidental shutdowns.
2. It has a wide support for plugins that further increases the functionality.
3. The multi window comes very handy while working on different projects at once.
4. It supports all the major programming languages like C, C++, Java, JavaScript etc.

Cons: 1. The look and feel of the tool is a bit cluttered and old.
2. Complete dark mode is not available yet.

Overall: Notepad++ is a developer-friendly text editor for programming that supports all the major programming languages. Aside from the old-looking user interface, all the features works fine.
