"Poor quality app" Posted 2025-03-19
Pros: Security feature are good and i do like the spam blocker. That is all I can come up with right now. The bad outweighs the good.
Cons: The texting is awful. Once you start typing in you message the screen remains still. It doesn't scroll down as you type so you can see what you are typing. You have to exit the keyboard to read your message and make sure the cursor is at the end so you can start typing again. Also the auto correct doesn't make sense. It pulls up misspelled word or word that don't even pertain to what is being typed. This app is the worst I have felt with. You can't like photos and only sometimes you can like a text during a conversation. The other text app options for this phone are a joke. I am about ready to switch my phone entirely. With all the new technology this is awful.
Overall: Not text friendly. I have spoken to other people who have the same problem. With all the money and capabilities you have available this shouldn't even be an issue

"Horrible" Posted 2024-10-25
Pros: I can "Like" a text. That's it for pros.
Cons: Almost everything else.
Takes 30 seconds for app to open, and to navigate around.
Can not "Like" a photo.
Can not create a Group. It just doesn't work.
Can not send text to more than one person. It sends to each recipient separately.Overall: Not user friendly.

"Unwanted app" Posted 2024-10-07
Pros: None. I don't like anything about this new app so I am not going to list cons for something I don't want
Cons: No choice. Android deleting messages+.
Stupid shading hard to read. Can't lock messages so don't accidentally lose them. All pictures go to gallery whether you want them or not.Overall: Don't like android making my choices whether I like them or not. I am elderly and have accidentally lost message so I lock things I don't want to lose. No option for this

"DO NOT LIKE THIS CHANGE" Posted 2024-10-02
Pros: None that I have seen. Don't like the product at all and don't want it. We shouldn't be forced to have this product.
Cons: Can't delete what I want, can't lock messages that I want and can't move the icon. All of this is not done easily. When you are trying to make things easy for people you need to keep in mind that a lot of us were not born into the computer age. So things you might think are easy are not for everyone.
Overall: Don't like it don't want this product. We shouldn't have to be forced to have this product

"Awesome App" Posted 2024-02-02
Pros: Got connected within seconds, sends text and pictures literally instantly, wish I had found this app before instead of having all the problems with Phone Link, they just updated the software and now my phone won't even connect because all of a sudden it is not compatible, Thank You Google.
Cons: There are no cons, so it is rather difficult to answer this question in more detail.
Overall: Excellent, fantastic, trouble free, easy to set up and use, very fast to sent text and pictures, the best app I've seen.

"Glitches" Posted 2022-04-18
Pros: It's simple and very similar to other text apps. Of course being free is expected, especially when it is Google's default text app.
Cons: There is always glitches. I have only had my pixel 6 a few months. In that short time Google Messages has had many glitches.
The individual text lines don't have automatic date and time stamps
It will not display new text lines - I have to go into each contact to see if a new text has been received.
The bold feature that lets you know a new message has been received will not refresh in it's own. So it appears that I have not read people's text. When in fact many other texts have been received and sent to that person.
Almost everyday (5 out of 7) I have to shut down my phone to get it to refresh. But that doesn't always work either.Overall: I literally send 100's of texts daily because of business. Previously I had a Samsung 9 phone. Their default text app was easy and I never had a problem with it - ever. With Google Messages (Google's default text app) I have already spent hours trying to figure out how to correct basic functions. I would not purchase another Google phone just for this reason.

"Great Android Messaging App" Posted 2022-01-31
Pros: Very easy to use and setup. The new chat features are great when chatting with other android users. The added end-to-end encryption which is great. The smart replies and suggestions work really well. The chat bubbles can be very nice when you need to switch between multiple apps and still want quick access to your messages.
Cons: Like with most android messaging apps talking to someone on an apple product can be frustrating when they use their chat features. No one wants to see the message they just send sent back with "Laughed at '(your message)'".
Overall: If you want a great messaging app with great features use Google Messages. Being able to use chat features and sms at the same time in one app is great.

"Ample-featured messaging app" Posted 2021-08-15
Pros: Can become your SMS app, but can also send and receive messages over wifi. Integrates with google assistant and wearOS, and can be accessed on the web as well.
Cons: As part of the google ecosystem, it will inevitably be learning your SMS habits so it is not entirely free.
Overall: This is a clean and simple but well-featured messaging app. With lots of simple features this has wide appeal.
