Users interested in a new web browser, built for how we use the internet today

About Arc

Arc is a web browser, but more importantly, it’s everything you care about, all in one place. Despite the ways our internet use has evolved, the browser has remained relatively unchanged. While all of our other software tools are changing for the better—with more collaborative features, flexible interfaces, and powerful functionality—the browser largely still does what it did twenty-five years ago. What’s more, we blame ourselves for the browser’s shortcomings. When our browser has an overwhelming number of tabs, we call ourselves inefficient; when we get distracted online, we tell ourselves we need more discipline; when we can’t find a url, we think we’re disorganized. Why does the browser get a free pass? That’s why we’re building a new browser, which we call Arc, because we believe browsers can do so much more to empower us. We’re imagining a browser that can think as quickly as we do, take work off of our plates, and pull our creativity forward.

"Greatest update to browsing experience in years"

    Posted 2023-11-03

Pros: Company made amazing UI choices that make other browsers feel dated. I've been using an extension like spaces for years, but this feature is now built in and way better execution. Hold alt when you click and links open a split pain. All my chrome extensions work. Bookmarks can become tab spaces. Tab spaces can become bookmark folders. (Allows unpacking bookmarks into organized tab collections). You can save page layouts. If you hate a page's design, you can boost it -- changing colors, fonts, or even code permanently. You can share spaces, bookmark folders.

Cons: None. All of Chrome's features and more. I've had zero hiccups. I only hate that I can't use it at work on my Linux machine, but makes sense because they wrote it in MacOS swift language. It does feel very responsive though because swift has nice llvm optimizations.

Overall: Cloud 9. I've said everything I want to say and more above. If you're still reading and not downloading this --- look inward and ask yourself, "why?"

    "Arc is really innovative"

    Edited 2022-12-19

Pros: Difficult to get used to at the start because it is so different than customary browsers, but terrific speed and customization.

Cons: No added themes, had to add a speed dial page in order to get any type of background on the homepage. Also, too many steps to share webpages with another person.

Overall: Terrific browser. It has everything you need with substantially less clutter. Once you figure out how to use all features, I wouldn't use another browser.
