    "Adblock Plus is your friend"

    Pros: It blocks most everything you don't want to see.
    It's free and easily available in the Chrome Webstore.
    The difference between having it and not having is light years apart.

    Cons: Doesn't block EVERYTHING, such as some websites that are aggressively against adblockers.

    Overall: Wonderful.
    Beware of look-alike Adblockers using similar fonts and names to fool you into installing terrible and invasive scams -- such as Total Adblock, mentioned here also. They are evil evil. Avoid them at all costs.
