"Fantastic product and customer service" Posted 2025-02-28
Pros: I have been using uLaw since I started my sole practice in Canadian immigration law about 7 years ago. A colleague was using it at the time and suggested I try it out. I am extremely happy with uLaw. To be clear, I hate accounting, but I knew that my practice is small enough where I could handle everything if I had the right tools. uLaw has proven to be the right tool for my accounting and bookkeeping needs. I keep it simple and uLaw allows me to do that without being overwhelmed by over choice or a confusing interface. I've had to contact customer service a number of times to figure out what reports are needed for taxes, HST return reviews, and law society compliance audits. Each time I've contacted customer service they have been very responsive and extremely helpful. They understand the product deeply and they understand my question, even when I'm not always sure exactly what I'm asking for.
Cons: Sometimes information populates in template forms a little oddly and sometimes invoices/receipts are a bit slow to generate/download.
Overall: Overall, uLaw has been wonderful and easy to work in, even for someone who lacks a solid understanding of accounting. And when things get confusing, customer service is top notch.

"Excellent Service, Excellent After-Sales Support" Posted 2024-01-11
Pros: The service is web based, highly customizable, allows for BI and is great for book keeping as well as CRM functions, and produces very professional-looking documents. However, the best feature is the dedicated after-sales support -- from what I'm told it far surpasses other similar solution providers. For that reason alone, I wouldn't switch from uLaw.
Cons: There are no cons to using uLaw. I would recommend uLaw to anyone running their own practice.
Overall: I am extremely satisfied.

"Excellent Customer Service and Software" Posted 2023-04-12
Pros: The follow-up by staff when you do not know how to do something in ULaw or reverse something, is very timely.
The product itself is very comprehensive.
I like that the product is Canadian and fairly affordable, especially given the discount given in your first year as a user and in comparison to U.S. software I considered.
The compliance tab (with the LSO) is a great resource.Cons: I find that often the Ulaw Answers do not provide an answer for something I am trying to do. The sound on the videos is low. I like that they are to-the-point and quick, but I think more need to be added, even though there are already hundreds to filter through.
The ULaw answers are useful sometimes, but I do not use the Guide. It should not even be called one I think, as the few times I have gone in to it forgetting that it is not a guide in the sense that I think of as a guide - terms with a table of contents. I really missed not having access to a resource like that when I was a beginner, although I had ULaw answers and Gayathri from ULaw Support, Bless her. I found flow charts or menu paths would have been helpful. Ex. what do you do first in ULaw when you have a new client, where do you go next... Sometimes it appears as if there are different ways to do the same thing , but you end up choosing the wrong path.
The incorrect spelling throughout ULaw annoys me a little as a former English teacher and do not find it leaves a professional image for the company.Overall: My overall experience has been wonderful. ULaw does so much that the learning curve was slow and at times I just wanted to do the practice and accounting management manually on my own. However, you cannot do without ULaw as you get busier in a sole proprietorship.

"ULaw Practice Software" Posted 2021-11-16
Pros: I am a licensed Paralegal in Ontario. uLaw Practice is an excellent tool for legal professionals as it saves us time in preparing all the documents required by the Law Society. It is easy to use and can be accessed from any location as it it cloud based. The software helped me considerably during my Practice Audit as I could easily access and print out the documents required by the auditor. uLaw has excellent customer support.
Cons: Some of the Forms like the Form 9A should allow for auto-population to save time.
Overall: Overall an excellent software for legal professionals. Saves time in keeping up with LSO's requirements.

"ULAW: Every legal professional should go for it." Edited 2021-11-15
Pros: We focus on litigation, argument and client service. We lack time to do administrative work, and financial books and records. Ulaw can do it, and it is what I trust after I tried several others. I passed LSO auditing by using Ulaw system, they help me to clear my historical headache. I recommend Ulaw to each of you. Gaya always patiently answers all my question and give me a clear direction.
Cons: Ulaw has no physical office in major cities. Old school students, like me, always wish to have someone sit beside and teach me for 1 hour. But Zoom meetings can be a substitute in the new normal era.
Overall: Without Ulaw, I have no idea of my financial books and records. I will keep it until my retirement, say...in 25 years.

"ULAW Practice Management is excellent" Posted 2021-09-28
Pros: ULAW practice management is an excellent for professionalism, bookkeeping and being compliant to LSO. ULAW offers great support individually or through their many YouTube videos. ULAW also offers Friday afternoon support as well which can count for CPD hours.
The price of the practice management is affordable.Cons: At the beginning, I had a learning curve to use ULAW, but I was given a lot of support from ULAW to learn the practice management system quickly.
Overall: ULAW has great, efficient support with someone either emailing you with an YouTube video or someone calling you for support if you are still not understanding. ULAW is compliant with the Law Society and makes it easy to undergo an audit from the Law Society as well. ULAW even offers practice audits which is a confidence builder that you are on the right track.

"My experience with ULawPractice" Posted 2021-08-30
Pros: The support team is very helpful and efficient. The monthly fee is more affordable than most of the other similar software. The "ULaw Answers" function is very helpful, and makes it easy to learn to use various functions of the software, and find answer to most of the software related questions.
Cons: The design, and some functions can be improved. The invoice ends up as a long document in multiple pages, while it could be using less space and still show the items in a detailed and clearer way. I have tried the different available invoice formats, and I believe there is room for improvement. (This might be just a matter of taste. When I compare it with the look of the invoices created by other legal software, I usually prefer others.)
Overall: My overall experience has been great so far.

"Fantastic Legal Software Company" Posted 2021-07-29
Pros: The customer service is top-notch and the staff are very responsive to any issues. The program is simple to use and navigate. It saves me so much time by simplifying processes such as billing and accounting. I am able to easily track and manage client case files. The company releases simple videos to show me how to navigate features I may not understand, and they always answer right away when I have a question, either by phone or email.
Cons: Any issues I had with the program were resolved right away with an email or phone call.
Overall: I am very happy with uLaw and Superfluid Software. The program adds tremendous value to my legal services business and they have already contemplated almost all of my needs. It is great to be able to have everything I need to run my practice in one single program, so that I don't have to navigate a tremendous amount of software to get things done. The staff are excellent and great to deal with.

"uLaw Review" Posted 2021-07-28
Pros: Whenever we have an issue I get an immediate response back and solution to fix the problem. The support service is excellent.
Cons: When a file gets too large it takes a very long time to load and save dockets. We have started to close very large files and open up new ones which is a bit of a pain. Also, there is only room for 5 lawyers and when we had one lawyer leave we had to open up some new files because we could not replace the old lawyer with the new lawyer
Overall: Overall this program works extremely well for small firms and I am very happy with it. The program runs extremely well except for the minor issues with large files as noted above, but even with those issues it works great - it can just be slow at times. It is extremely user friendly as well and was not hard to learn how to use at all.
