A boilerplate/starter project for quickly building RESTful APIs using Node.js, Express, and Mongoose. By running a single command, you will get a production-ready Node.js app installed and fully configured on your machine. The app comes with many built-in features, such as authentication using JWT, request validation, unit and integration tests, continuous integration, docker support, API documentation, pagination, etc. The app has a utility ApiError class to which you can attach a response code and a message, and then throw it from anywhere (catchAsync will catch it). Request data is validated using Joi. Check the documentation for more details on how to write Joi validation schemas. In production mode, only info, warn, and error logs will be printed to the console. It is up to the server (or process manager) to actually read them from the console and store them in log files. -

This is a lightweight RESTful API Server scaffolding based on Koa2, supporting ES6. Since the Koa version is upgraded to 2.3.0+, in order to match the corresponding dependencies, the Node.js version is required to be greater than or equal to v8.0.0 (v11.13.0 is recommended), and the NPM version is greater than or equal to v5.0.0. It is recommended to use yarn instead of npm. This scaffolding only installs some necessary plug-ins that do not conflict with Koa2 to build a RESTful API Server, with instructions for each plug-in. Therefore, the scaffolding mainly provides RESTful API, so the front-end static resource processing is not considered for the time being, and only the basic method of static resource access is provided to facilitate access to resources such as pictures uploaded by users to the server. The basic directory structure is consistent with vue-cli and can be used with front-end frameworks such as React, AngularJS, and Vue.js. -

Monitor can be configured by passing options object into expressMonitor constructor. You can add a series of health checks to the configuration that will appear below the other stats. The health check will be considered successful if the endpoint returns a 200 status code. The HTML page handler is exposed as a pageRoute property on the main middleware function. So the middleware is mounted to intercept all requests while the HTML page handler will be authenticated. If you're using socket.io in your project, this module could break your project because this module by default will spawn its own socket.io instance. To mitigate that, fill websocket parameter with your main socket.io instance as well as port parameter. -

If you have attended any hackathons in the past, then you know how much time it takes to get a project started: decide on what to build, pick a programming language, pick a web framework, pick a CSS framework. A while later, you might have an initial project up on GitHub, and only then can other team members start contributing. Or how about doing something as simple as Sign in with Facebook authentication? You can spend hours on it if you are not familiar with how OAuth 2.0 works. When I started this project, my primary focus was on simplicity and ease of use. I also tried to make it as generic and reusable as possible to cover most use cases of hackathon web apps, without being too specific. In the worst case, you can use this as a learning guide for your projects, if for example you are only interested in Sign in with Google authentication and nothing else.
