An Open Source model rocket simulator.

gVirtualXRay is a C++ library to simulate X-ray imaging. It is based on the Beer-Lambert law to compute the absorption of light (i.e. photons) by 3D objects (here polygon meshes). It is implemented on the graphics processing unit (GPU) using the OpenGL Shading Language (GLSL). SimpleGVXR is a smaller library build on the top of gVirtualXRay. It provides wrappers to Python, R, Ruby, Tcl, C#, Java, and GNU Octave.

GridLAB-D is a new power system simulation tool that provides valuable information to users who design and operate electric power transmission and distribution systems, and to utilities that wish to take advantage of the latest smart grid technology. It incorporates advanced modeling techniques with high-performance algorithms to deliver the latest in end-use load modeling technology integrated with three-phase unbalanced power flow, and retail market systems. Historically, the inability to effectively model and evaluate smart grid technologies has been a barrier to adoption; GridLAB-D is designed to address this problem. JaxoDraw is a tool to generate Feynman diagrams in a mouse click-and-drag fashion. Graphs can be exported to a variety of graphics formats and arbitrary latex code can be used for labels to produce high-quality publishing-style figures.

This open-source software enables profiling and analysis of laser beams. It can be used with a variety of cameras supported by ImageJ and Micro-Manager, or images from any other source. It provides all common analysis methods like D4Sigma, knife-edge, as well as fitting of Hermite-Gauss, Laguerre-Gauss and super-Gauss functions.

Radiation detection and measurement education is necessary for a wide variety of people working with radiation. The equipment and laboratory setup needed for delivering this education are expensive and difficult to assemble due to the large variety of the type of experiments that are desirable to cover. For a basic education one needs to have gamma, beta, alpha and neutron sources, at least one detector to detect each type of radiation and other supplemental instrumentation to perform experiments. Although the radiation exposure due to these radioactive sources in an education laboratory is low, shielding and a private secured place is needed. Nearly two hundred thousand dollars is needed to construct such a basic laboratory described as above. In order to overcome these difficulties, a model of a basic Radiation Detection Laboratory has been created to provide a virtual environment for designing and simulating such experiments. This is a simulation package developed for numerical simulation of ultrashort pulse propagation in optical media and pulse generation from mode-locked lasers. Although the code is primarily intended for investigations of fiber links, fiber amplifiers and fiber lasers, it can be applied to any other setting for which the governing equiations are valid. The physics included in the code is based on a generalized nonlinear Schrödinger equation, including higher order dispersion, stimulated Raman effect, gain with bandwidth limitation and saturation, loss, and saturable absorption.
