VirtualCockroach is a desktop “pet” application that displays a cockroach roaming around on your desktop. It was developed using Adobe AIR / Flash, includes desktop integration (taskbar icon, system tray, etc.), has various behavioural modes, and includes features like hiding the window, startup animation, etc., mostly as amusement or novelty. Modify the tentacle animation, change from simple png reading to automatic random movement. Update window menu interface, support drag window. Expand the optional range of cockroach sizes, but don't be greedy and be careful that system resource usage is too high.

Built with Flash, it lets users compose music in a grid-based tracker interface with built-in instruments that mimic the sound of old-school game consoles. It’s great for creating retro game music or experimenting with synthesized tones in a nostalgic interface that feels like a modern homage to classic trackers.

Kidware is currently a few flash apps for helping very young kids with learning mouse control, counting and basic sets. I tried to keep as much distraction out of the games as possible, in part, because I want the kids to focus on learning the tech above being amused. Hopefully kids will quickly learn these techniques and then use them to play some more advanced games. Currently, most of the games do not come with sound or instruction so the teacher/adult may need to demonstrate the game. The games are also up on kongregate.com where some of them use that system to track high scores, however, there is a lot more visual spam on that site. More levels and audio are planned for future updates. Open to suggestions for future games. A combined project of a game and a social network, centered around the issue of garbage separation.

mapgen2 is a procedural map / island generator intended for games. It focuses on generating continent/island style maps (coastlines, mountains, rivers, etc.) with a vector / polygonal structure rather than a full high-resolution tile grid. Originally written in ActionScript, this tool emphasizes generating aesthetically pleasing island maps with realistic natural features while keeping computational complexity manageable. It supports exporting to SWF (Flash) via appropriate tooling. The most important features I want are nice island/continent coastlines, mountains, and rivers. Non-goals include impassable areas (except for the ocean), maze-like structures, or realistic height maps.
