Open Source Java File Systems

This project serves as a collection of different free software projects that I'm working on. The major ones are currently "HFSExplorer", "DMGExtractor", and "NTFS-3G for Mac OS X".

Openfiler is a browser-based network storage management utility. Linux-powered, Openfiler delivers file-based Network Attached Storage (NAS) and block-based SAN in a single framework. It supports CIFS, NFS, HTTP/DAV, FTP, and iSCSI.

WipeFreeSpace is a program to securely erase/wipe/overwrite/shred the free space on file systems WITHOUT DESTROYING EXISTING FILES, to prevent recovery of deleted sensitive data. This allows protecting the user's privacy when e.g. selling the drive or the whole computer. The following filesystems are supported: - Ext2/3/4, - NTFS, - XFS, - ReiserFSv3/4, - FAT12/16/32, - MinixFS1/2, - JFS, - HFS/HFS+, - OCFS. The following wiping methods are supported: Gutmann-like, random, Schneier, DoD. Additionally, WipeFreeSpace can finalize wiping the filesystem by writing blocks of zeros, which is friendly for sparse files, virtual systems and other places where zeroed-out space is not physically allocated. To prevent clear-text data from being left on the drive in the first place, you can use LibSecRm (https://libsecrm.sourceforge.io), which wipes the data on-the-fly.

A Java library that allow Java applications to receive file system events on Windows and Linux.

The jnios module is a complete java/JNI implementation of the builtin python modules "os" and "posix" for use with the JPython environment. jnios allows the original os.py and posixpath.py/ntpath.py/...from CPython, to run under JPython.

The CloudTier Storage Tiering SDK is a Hierarchical Storage Management (HSM) file system filter driver development kit. It implements a data storage strategy that automatically migrates data between high-cost and low-cost storage media, optimizing storage efficiency and reducing both capital and operational expenses. This SDK offers a simple and cost-effective solution to seamlessly integrate your on-premises storage infrastructure with cloud storage. The migration of files to the cloud happens transparently and securely, with no disruption to existing applications or infrastructure. The SDK uses on-premises storage as Tier 0 (hot storage) and cloud storage as Tier 1 (cold storage). Cooler or less frequently accessed data is automatically moved to cloud storage, freeing up local storage capacity. Your applications can continue to access all files as if they reside locally—no changes to your code or workflow are required.

This is a java implement FUSE binding (FileSystem in User Space), again, this can be used as remote file system by io package in this project.

OceanStore is an architecture for a global-scale file system which uses erasure coding, cryptography, and Byzantine agreement to provide available, highly durable storage in a peer-to-peer environment.

Transparent file encryption performs real-time I/O encryption and decryption of the files in any block data with 16 bytes. The encryption uses a 256 bits symmetric key to encrypt or decrypt the data with AES encryption algorithm. Auto file encryption protects data "at rest", meaning the transparent data and files encryption. It provides the ability to comply with policies which can be applied by users, processes and file type. This allows only authorized users and processes to access the encrypted files, unauthorized users and processes can’t access the encrypted files. The Auto FileCrypt Tool was developed with EaseFilter Encryption Filter Driver(EEFD) SDK, a file level encryption filter driver. Run the auto file encryption service with administrator permission, add the managed folders as encryption folder, when the files were added to the managed folder, the files will be encrypted automatically, when files were read, the data will be decrypted in memory automatically.

EaseFilter DRM Secure File Sharing example was implemented with the Transparent File Encryption and Control Filter Driver SDK. The shared file was encrypted with a unique 256-bits key, store the file access policies in a central server, share the encrypted files with fully control. You can grant, revoke or expire the file access at any time, even after the file has been shared. Digital Rights Management (DRM) enforces how files can be viewed, copied, printed, shared, or modified. Instead of granting blanket access, DRM attaches enforceable usage policies to content. With EaseFilter DRM, you can: Restrict access to authorized users, devices, and applications only. Block forwarding, uploading to unauthorized cloud services, or syncing to personal drives. Apply time-based access (expiration dates) and geo/device restrictions. Maintain tamper-evident audit trails for compliance and forensics.

XtreemOS project aims at building a Linux-based operating system to support virtual organizations for next generation Grids.

This FUSE based file system allows you to browse the Apple Trailers page like a directory structure on your computer. appletrailerfs will be optimized for use with the Western Digital TV HD but does work with any OS supported by FUSE.

EaseFilter File System Filter Driver Framework is a set of file system filter driver software development kit which includes file monitor filter driver, file access control filter driver, transparent file encryption filter driver, process filter driver and registry filter driver. The File Security Solution with the EaseFilter Comprehensive File Security SDK encompasses file security, digital rights management, encryption, file monitoring, file auditing, file tracking, data loss prevention, process monitoring and protection, and system configuration protection. EaseFilter file system filter driver is a kernel-mode component that runs as part of the Windows executive above the file system. The EaseFilter file system filter driver can intercept requests targeted at a file system or another file system filter driver. By intercepting the request before it reaches its intended target, the filter driver can extend or replace functionality provided by the original target of the request.

A collection of tools to assist the recovery of files from a corrupt memory card. Initial aim of this project was to recover photographic jpeg and avi files from a corrupt SD card. However, the tools might be usable in other situations. Current project is fairly rough and may need some adjustment to the source code to work for specific cases.
