Grsync is used to synchronize folders, files and make backups. It is a rsync GUI (Graphical User Interface).

Fpart is a tool that helps you sort file trees and pack them into bags (called "partitions"). It is developped in C and available under the BSD license. It splits a list of directories and file trees into a certain number of partitions, trying to produce partitions with the same size and number of files. It can also produce partitions with a given number of files or a limited size. Once generated, partitions are either printed as file lists to stdout (default) or to files. Those lists can then be used by third party programs. Fpart also includes a live mode, which allows it to crawl very large filesystems and produce partitions in live. Hooks are available to act on those partitions (e.g. immediatly start a transfer using rsync(1)) without having to wait for the filesystem traversal job to be finished. Used this way, fpart can be seen as a powerful data migration tool.

New versions @ https://github.com/hansij66/securecopy crccp and crcmv are based on coreutils (v8.23) and add crc checksum functionality to cp and mv commands. Checksums can optionally be stored in the file's xattr. The command crcsum can be used for further checksum analysis/verification, or for storing a checksum in the xattr of all files in a directory or filesystem.

DOS_Restore is itself a Console Win32 program. The idea is that these ancient MS-DOS or OS/2 files can be recovered on a modern Win32 system.

DiscDB is a little program that will use a SQL database to catalog all files in your CDs or DVDs, making it easy to find a file without having to switch discs until you find it. Useful for people who save all their downloads or backups to removable media

fbreak is a console application that allows you to break a large file into multiple smaller files (ie, for distribution on floppy disks).

A library with the intent to provide a single interface to files and data in various locations, like inside archives and across the internet.

A filesystem that stores data via pop3 and smtp in E-Mails. It uses Fuse.

Idas (I Don't Accept Seconds) is a high-performance duplicate file detector. Idas plugs into your favorite Unix filter and can tell you exactly which files have been seen before, regardless of whether or not it appears with the same filename.

Simply select origin and destination folders and JoseBackupTool will maintain a backup copy of origin folder into destination folder copying, deleting and updating only as needed. Enjoy it

Stores and retrieves files in an encrypted archive. Also manages files stored on CDs and DVDs. Other functions are incomplete. PLEASE NOTE: you need to download both an Objectify release and a Public Objects release.

rmw (ReMove to Waste) is a safe-remove utility for the command line. Its goal is to conform to the FreeDesktop.org Trash specification and therefore be compatible with KDE, GNOME, XFCE, and others. Desktop integration is optional however, and by default, rmw will only use a waste folder separated from your desktop trash. One of its unique features is the ability to purge files from your Waste/Trash directories after x number of days.

Cync is a small but powerful synchronization tool for GNU/Linux systems. It finds differences in file timestamps, and executes the necessary action. It is possible to write CSL-files for performing more synchronization tasks in one command.

dedup util is a lightweight open-source files packing tool. It is based on block-level data de-duplication technology, and can reduce the data capacity to save storage space. The key feature is no block data collsion with md5 hashkey.

File Write Tracker (FWTracker) will save all files before they are updated, or deleted. It also keeps track of files that had their permissions or contexts changed. You can also restore the files back to their original state.

This command line program can be used to synchronize local directories with an MTP device like an MP3-Player or a digital camera. The program uses the gphoto2 library.

mutt-mb is a program to create a list of mailboxes for the MUA mutt when mail is stored in maildir format. It can also be used to check the consistency of the mail storage.

The nmSync tool provides file synchronization among different platforms (Win32, OSX, BSD, ...) in networked or disconnected environments.

Finddupe is a VERY FAST command line C program to catalog very large archives, identifying duplicate files even when offline. It has many features. You can easily grep a catalog to find what you have, and locate where it is.
