Open Source Scala Education Software

Scala Exercises is an open source platform for learning Scala through interactive exercises and tutorials. It provides a hands-on learning environment where users can read theory and immediately code (in the browser) and see results. The content covers Scala language features, functional programming libraries (cats, scalaz, etc.), and fp-style patterns. It is modular, so additional modules or “sections” can be added for new topics or libraries. The aim is to reduce the friction in learning Scala by integrating documentation, examples, and live code execution in a unified environment. It also serves as a community-driven repository: contributors can author and maintain exercises, and learners can see evolving content aligned with the Scala ecosystem’s changes.

Simuquant is made to construct and simulate universal quantum circuits. It's GUI enables intuitive access and direct graphical feedback, making it useful in a classroom situation and the like. Simulation processing is done in parallel, utilizing parallel collections introduced in scala 2.9. This application has been created as part a bachelor-thesis at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences. An application for managing your (e)Book collection.

The aim of this project is to create programs which turn off the computer after a certain time is exceeded within one day. The final goal is to avoid that small children spend too much time in front of the computer.

GeckoCIRCUITS is THE circuit simulator for modeling power electronics systems. Besides its fast circuit simulation capability, GeckoCIRCUITS combines control modelling and thermal simulations via equivalent networks in an easy-to-use software package. GeckoCIRCUITS has its strengths in the extremely high simulation speed and its open interface. The software can be integrated into MATLAB/Simulink or other programming environments.

Inhaler is a speed reading tool programmed in scala using swing. It features variable reading speed and font size. It is licensed under GPL.
