Sky Simulator for ASCOM and Alpaca is a software program designed to simulate an astronomical camera mounted on a computer-controlled telescope. The camera displays images of the night sky based on the telescope pointing-at position and is affected by exposure time and focuser position. The images can be created artificially or using the online deep sky survey. It simulates also a guide camera. mount, focuser and camera rotator if required. You can also use your own mount in the simulation. Simulation of mount polar alignment errors and mount periodic errors is possible. This simulator is a useful tool for testing the focuser routine, astrometric solving, guiding and test run sequences. Star and a deep sky databases are included. “Camera Digital Exif Info” is a free info viewer, provides you to check your digital camera (most of the SLR) shutter count and basic EXIF info. There are various EXIF tools around of course, but cool GUI application and simplicity are always a plus. Shutter actuation is an important factor because it tells you the extent of wear the camera has undergone, and it’s particularly crucial when you are buying used cameras. Almost all new digital cameras use the EXIF annotation, storing information on the image such as shutter speed, exposure compensation, F-number, what metering system was used, if a flash was used, ISO number, date and time the image was taken, white balance, lenses that were used and resolution. All this Informations is usually embedded in the EXIF data of the picture files. This tool is available as a stand-alone Windows win32 executable and a Macintosh OS X package. -
