Open Source Debuggers

An open-source x64/x32 debugger for windows. Development is done on GitHub (https://github.com/x64dbg/x64dbg). Daily snapshots are uploaded here, snapshots for every commit can be found on http://releases.x64dbg.com

An open-source binary debugger for Windows, aimed at malware analysis and reverse engineering of executables you do not have the source code for. There are many features available and a comprehensive plugin system to add your own. Fully customizable color scheme. Dynamically recognize modules and strings. Import reconstructor integrated (Scylla). Fast disassembler (Zydis). User database (JSON) for comments, labels, bookmarks, etc. Plugin support with growing API. Extendable, debuggable scripting language for automation. Multi-datatype memory dump. Basic debug symbol (PDB) support. Dynamic stack view. Built-in assembler (XEDParse/asmjit). Executable patching and analysis. We provide both the executable and the source. Feel free to contribute. Write plugins in C++, change colors and tweak your preferences. x64dbg can debug both x64 and x32 applications. There is only one interface.

The "Open On-Chip Debugger" provides JTAG/SWD access from GDB (or directly with TCL scripts) to processors with ARM and MIPS based cores. See website for full list of supported targets.

A disassembler for the linux platform. Currently this supports x86 ELF files assumed to be written in C and output to intel- syntax assembly language; however the design is modular and replacements for any of these can be written.

A 6502 disassembler, designed to specifically support Atari binary files.

Udis86 is an easy-to-use minimalistic disassembler library for the x86 and x86-64 instruction set architectures. The primary intent of the design and development of udis86 is to aid software development projects that entail binary code analysis.

Unfortunately this project has been suspended. If you wish to continue its development on your own, please feel free to contact me. UnPyc is a tool for disassembling, analyzing and decompiling Python's *.pyc and *.pyo files. UnPyc supports Python 2.5, 2.6.

This is a Windows command line based cross development environment for the M68K/ColdFire family of processors built from the latest stable release of GCC (currently 13.1.0). I recently incorrectly built 12.2.0 so have deleted it. Also included is Gnu make along with the necessary MinGW dlls to make it all work. I build this tool chain, from time to time, to use for testing Flash Insight, a device programmer that is available on my website. I want to make it available to the embedded development community since building gcc under MinGW isn't a trivial exercise and if you're like me you probably just want to work on your project and not fiddle with building tool chains. Unzip the archive to the location of your choice, include the top level "bin" directory in your path and start developing.

Disassembler for Windows(95-XP), currently supports PE, NE, MZ, COM and "unknown" executable formats. Includes also OS independent console version (but requires x86). Output syntax similar to NASM .

Tiny8051 is small 8051 microcontroller simulator written in C#. Project was created for educational purposes, to show how µP works by using clean visual interface and debugging. Note: communication over serial port was not implemented, because there was no demand for it.

DiDasm is a small and fast disassembler, useful for Windows kernel developers. Desquirr is a decompiler plugin for Interactive Disassembler Pro. It is currently capable of simple data flow analysis of binaries with Intel x86 machine code.

mt6502dis is an interactive disassembler for parsing 6502 machine code. It is a GUI based program and uses the GTK+1 or GTK+2 toolkits.

IMAVR is Atmel AVR 8-bit RISC chip emulator for UNIX. You can run your code before programming to chip. Embedded simple debugger and disassembler. Emulate wide range of AVR chip, wide range of their modules: EEPROM,USART, timers and so on.

AsmTrace traces ELF executables, showing registers and disassembly. Triggers can enable and disable tracing.

Bits and Pieces is an interactive 6502 disassembler.

This is a student project designed to compete in the 2010 IEEE Computer Society Student Competition: http://www.computer.org/portal/web/competition/2010competition The Code Red architecture is designed for extremely lower power environments, like distributed sensor networks. Included is a design of that architecture, a Java-based simulator, an implementation (without vector instructions) designed as a Logisim circuit (http://ozark.hendrix.edu/~burch/logisim/), and more. The name "Code Red" comes from our team name, the Red Team. Since the competition dictated a small team size, our professor split the class and gave each group a color. We liked the name "Code Red" and chose it to represent our team and school's color (UMass' official color is Maroon.) Only later did we realize that "Code Red" was the name of an unrelated computer worm from 2001.

Java Decompiler, Disassembler and Bytecode debugger. Decompiler supports Java 5 (e.g. generics, for-each loops etc). Debugger allows user to step through each bytecode and view program state. Contains Swing GUI.

This project is a plugin for IDA Pro disassembler to support ARM code debugging via JTAG or software emulators. JLink JTAG interface or any other RDI-compliant hw/sw emulator (such as ARMulator) can be used with it

A replacement for the not so useful wingraph32 with uDraw, for the Interactive Disassembler (IDA).

QDisassembler Interactive Disassembler

This is a port of several development tools for Freescale M68HC08/HCS08 embedded microcontrollers families. Currently work is focused on binutils (as,ld), gdb and sim port. GCC, newlib, etc. porting will start after finishing the main as/ld support.

VirtuAL3101 provides a series of tools to develop effects using the AL3101 DSP from Alesis. It includes an assembler/disassembler, a simulator, an application generator with its graphical interface and various effects.
