Open Source Python Astronomy Software for ChromeOS

Warning: I found an error if the DR position is on the southern hemisphere. The PUB249 pdf files did not show this error and are correct (as far as I checked). All Revisions 8+ and the Windows release have been fixed. This Python TK application calculates a good set of stars for a 3 star fix, makes all calculations similar to the FAAs Celestial Computation Sheet (see FAA doc FAA-H-8083-18). Also, you can create a PDF file that generates Pub 249 Vol 1 for any epoch you specify. The PUB249 as PDF is found under "Files". I wrote this for my aircraft bubble octant :-) It is mainly useful for air navigation as it assumes a bubble sextant but may be used for normal sextants as well. Requires Ephem and ReportLab (optional for PDF output) Not to be used for real-world navigation!

python, SExtractor. A python module to read, write and manage SExtractor catalogs.

As of August 2018 Spheral++ has moved to Github -- please see the current repository at https://github.com/jmikeowen/spheral We are leaving a frozen version here on SourceForge for historical reasons. Spheral++ provides a steerable parallel environment for performing coupled hydrodynamical & gravitational numerical simulations. Hydrodynamics and gravity are modelled using particle based methods (SPH and N-Body).

Automated supernova finder is a software package to automatically compare FITS images to a nominated reference image with the aim of finding supernovae or other optical transient phenomena.

A client program compatible with the INDI standard (see http://indi.sourceforge.net) for remote telescope and device control. It works under Windows as well as Linux. It is writen in Python and uses the GTK in order to display the GUI.

The Online Astronomy Project will create a complete, web-enabled, robotic astronomy system that is hardware independent (ASCOM standard abstraction layer) and capable of servicing multiple telescopes and types of observation programs at once.

PyCosmic is a tool to detect and clean single images from the disturbing cosmic ray hits. It was designed and tested specifically for CALIFA and other fiber-fed integral-field spectroscopy dataset. It is written in Python and can be executed from the command line. New release is version v0.5. Updated to be compatible with numpy version 1.12. New release is version v0.4. It's now compatible with astropy for fits I/O and computation time is reduced by a factor of 2.

Pysolar is a Python library for calculating the position of the sun relative to the earth as a function of latitude, longitude, and time. There is also code included for other problems related to the development of photovoltaic systems. Still in alpha.

La P.A.P.A. (Python Alternative for Programming Astrophysics) want to give an alternative to the astrophysicists (and any one that use RSI-IDL) for start programming in Python using similar functions as IDL and at the same time learn the power of Python.

pyastrolib is a python library providing professional astronomers a robust set of tools for astronomical data analysis. This project will provide all the functionality as NASA's IDL Astronomy User's Library in addition to other planned features.

Implementation in Python of some of the statistical methods provided by "asurv", the survival analysis software.
