Power your metrics and alerting with a leading open-source monitoring solution. Prometheus implements a highly dimensional data model. Time series are identified by a metric name and a set of key-value pairs. PromQL allows slicing and dicing of collected time series data in order to generate ad-hoc graphs, tables, and alerts. Prometheus has multiple modes for visualizing data: a built-in expression browser, Grafana integration, and a console template language. Prometheus stores time series in memory and on local disk in an efficient custom format. Scaling is achieved by functional sharding and federation. Existing exporters allow bridging of third-party data into Prometheus. You can enable additional collectors as desired by adding them to your init system's or service supervisor's startup configuration for node_exporter but caution is advised. Enable at most one at a time, testing first on a non-production system, then by hand on a single production node. -

High performance ping tool
fping is a program to send ICMP echo probes to network hosts, similar to ping, but much better performing when pinging multiple hosts. fping has a very long history: Roland Schemers did publish a first version of it in 1992 and it has established itself since then as a standard tool for network diagnostics and statistics. There was no official fping release from 2002 until end of 2011. Various patches existed, but were never integrated "upstream". Also, the official maintainer didn't answer emails, so I decided to just step up and take over maintenanceship.To mark this change of maintenance, and avoid confusion, I decided to call it version 3. Besides a new maintainer, fping now also features a completely rewritten main loop implementation which improves performance significantly. The run time is now close to the theoretical time required to send and receive the pings under the specified parameters. -

CrowdSec - an open-source massively multiplayer firewall able to analyze visitor behavior & provide an adapted response to all kinds of attacks. It also leverages the crowd power to generate a global IP reputation database to protect the user network. Crowdsec shouldn't, and didn't crash any production so far we know, but some features might be missing or undergo evolutions. IP Blocklists are limited to very-safe-to-ban IPs only (~5% of the global database so far, will grow soon). A modern behavior detection system, written in Go. It stacks on Fail2ban's philosophy, but uses Grok patterns & YAML grammar to analyse logs, a modern decoupled approach (detect here, remedy there) for Cloud/Containers/VM based infrastructures. Once detected you can remedy threats with various bouncers (block, 403, Captchas, etc.) and blocked IPs are shared among all users to further improve their security. Crowdsec is an open-source, lightweight software, detecting peers with aggressive behaviors. -

Zeek has a long history in the open source and digital security worlds. Vern Paxson began developing the project in the 1990s under the name “Bro” as a means to understand what was happening on his university and national laboratory networks. Vern and the project’s leadership team renamed Bro to Zeek in late 2018 to celebrate its expansion and continued development. Zeek is not an active security device, like a firewall or intrusion prevention system. Rather, Zeek sits on a “sensor,” a hardware, software, virtual, or cloud platform that quietly and unobtrusively observes network traffic. Zeek interprets what it sees and creates compact, high-fidelity transaction logs, file content, and fully customized output, suitable for manual review on disk or in a more analyst-friendly tool like a security and information event management (SIEM) system. -

PingInfoView is a small utility that allows you to easily ping multiple host names and IP addresses, and watch the result in one table. It automatically ping to all hosts every number of seconds that you specify, and displays the number of succeed and failed pings, as well as the average ping time. You can also save the ping result into text/html/xml file, or copy it to the clipboard. PingInfoView supports both ICMP pings and TCP pings. PingInfoView doesn't require any installation process or additional dll files. In order to start using it, simply run the executable file (PingInfoView.exe), type the host names and IP addresses that you want to ping, and click the 'Ok' button to start pinging.Starting from version 2.00, you can also specify a TCP port number (e.g: 192.168.0.100:80 192.168.1.10:443 ) in order to test a TCP connection (TCP Ping) instead of using ICMP pings. Be aware that PingInfoView only tests the TCP connection itself. -
