The Moon - Blow the speakers (nAffie ft. Chuckie remix) by nAffie

This is when it all started out for me.... Here's this remix I made in 2000, which had so much impact on the club scene, even now I can't get my head around it... Still proud as hell when I hear this track being played, or hear the tracks based on this beat I made... It started, motivated and inspired so many current (2013) DJ MAG Top-100 DJ's, created new genres, got revamped more than once (thanks to Chuckie, Afrojack, Dave Nada & Munchi) and still gets crowds moving... Here's some background info: -Heard the original track (The Moon - Blow the speakers) at my friends (Romano, ICE) home on TMF or the BOX music channel... -He mentioned: Yo, dude, this is a track you really have to remix! -Wrote down the info... -Downloaded the vinyl rip via Napster....(yeah Napster!) -Started cutting the track into samples on the PowerMac G3 (B/W) I was working with... Used Peak as my main editor in those days.... -Created a beat on the drop with PlayerPro (the only thing that came close to FastTracker2 or ProTracker on Macintosh)... Chuckie was also there. He advised me to make the beat more like another bubbling remix that was popular in those days (DJ Jean - The Launch bubbling remix) I finally got the perfect beat for this track, bounced the track, burned it on a CD and gave it to Chuckie... He called me from his car on the way home, while listening, and said: "this shit kinda rocks...Finish it!"... -The following days I finished the track and the next time I was at Chuckie's (and Patrick's aka Layedback's) home, we were experimenting with recording his voice using a new mic and compressor. Of the couple of thousand takes we recorded I snagged the "Now this is the original..." vocal and used it for my remix... We also recorded some "nAffie" samples, but they were really corny, so I recorded my own voice later, whispering my name on a $5 computer mic (webcams didn't have built in mic's back in the days), holding a handkerchief as a filter between my mouth and the mic... -Took those vocals to finish the remix... Burned it on a CD, Chuckie played it whenever he could (if there was a CD player available, in those day's it was vinyl only!), got the track bootlegged on vinyl (thanks Howard D) including Chuckie's Partycrasher, and shit got crazy... Every DJ in Holland was spinning our tracks! Loved it when DJ Ghost from Belgium personally called me and said that my remix rocked! After that we formed RMXCRW and started uploading our tracks and remixes online... Then came the official vinyl releases on the Digidance label, the Bubbling Beats brand, CD's, party's, tours and then some... This silly remix I've done way back opened so many doors for me, made my life better and created a legacy which I'm proud of... Now this is the original..... nAffie
