Iman Deeper - Closer To You (Original Mix) by Monog Records

Iman Deeper returns to Monog with the superb Closer To You EP. This one follows his last effort here, on remix duties for Dennis Allen’s Midnight Turn from the Summer of 2021. Iman left Iran to pursue his dreams and find his place in the musical world. In 2008 he settled in Berlin, where he continues his musical journey having spent time in several other cities around Europe and the Middle East. To date, he boasts a raft of releases on top labels and also runs his own imprint, Deep Locus Records with fellow artist Hubrist. In 2021 he launched his own label – Deed Music, which aims to bring together seasoned, as well as up-and-coming artists. The release opens with the title track, Closer To You, which sets the scene for a trip deep into house with warm rolling grooves. Arpeggiated fragments and thick low-end basses are joined by enchanting vocals to create an emotive streak in the sound as gritty sequences add contrast. Walk Of The Walkyries is up next, delivering a solid groove that will definitely keep the late-night floors moving. A moody groover, punchy kicks and fluttering percussions create a flowing rhythm which lay the foundation for warm, subby basses and airy pads. Soft melodies sit in the background, contrasting with darker phrases beautifully. Rounding out the release, Haoma aka Behnam Zekavat marks his Monog debut with a tight remix on Walk Of The Walkyries. His musical journey began in the early 2000’s when he picked up a guitar. Haoma has been on the Iranian scene for over two decades and in 2021, he entered a new phase with his music being released on Deed Music, a place where he showcases his unique style. On the remix here, we’re treated to a solid workout on the floor thanks to chunky beats and flurries of exotic percussions. The track carries a superb rhythmic flow which is manifested in the cacophony of drums on offer. Subtle melodies add intrigue while darker elements deliver that introspective vibe.
