Opening Ceremony for Nou:shh Berlin OSD with Sarah Wreath, Marco Shuttle, Nathalia, Marylou, Ron Trent and Vanessa Running Wolf- Sunday, October 13, 2024, corresponds to the day Ce Coatl (1 Serpent) in the Aztec calendar or tonalpohualli. This day falls within the trecena of Cipactli (Caiman or Crocodile), symbolizing beginnings, creation, and the awakening of life. The serpent, Coatl, is a symbol of transformation, wisdom, and power, closely connected to Quetzalcoatl, the god of civilization and knowledge. Quetzalcoatl embodies the union of opposites: the serpent, symbolizing the earth, the material, and the terrestrial; and the quetzal feathers, representing the sky, the spirit, and the divine. This teaches us that humans are a manifestation of this duality—both material and spiritual beings—and that the path to wisdom involves finding balance between these two dimensions. Quetzalcóatl, master of civilization, taught us the power of knowledge—not only to elevate ourselves as human beings but to build communities based on harmony, respect, and deep connection with the earth. Quetzalcóatl, the creator of civilization, also teaches us that true knowledge is the medicine against ignorance and hatred. With this sound healing journey, we celebrate all those who resisted, standing firm in their beliefs and values. I created this sound journey in remembrance of the voices that were silenced, the spirits that were muted, and the stories that were lost.
