Only a small handful of artists have been able to break up the musical monotony and disrupt the status quo with new and innovative sounds. Rapidly emerging rapper/ singer Mal Forté is among that chosen few. With a complex, multi-layered sound that blends a mellow, laidback R&B influence, jazzy undertones and poetic wordplay, Mal Forté has kept fans fed with a catalogue of creativity since he stepped onto the scene just four short years ago. Often compared to Andre 3000, J. Cole and Wale, this witty wordsmith inherited his lyrical abilities naturally from his mother. Born Robert Jamal Wallace and raised in Jacksonville, Fla., Mal was one of those super-smart kids. He was in gifted programs in school and on honor roll. And he always had a love for rap and R&B. Soon after, he dropped his debut mixtape Best Known Unknown in 2010. He came back with Stage Fright in 2013 and in 2015, he released Black Sheep compilation and Encore album. He continued his musical momentum with 2016’s critically acclaimed Better Late Than Never while still managing to graduate college with a degree in music industry. In addition, this ambitious artist has performed with Rick Ross, Fabulous, and Lil Wayne. He has also toured with B.o.B during his 2016 STFU US tour, as well as numerous music conferences including SXSW, A3C, REVOLT. With the heart of a poet and tenacity of a rapper, Mal Forté, sets the tone for his musical journey to success and has recently released Best Known Unknown 2 hosted by Bigga Rankin scheduled to drop this fall and DJ Drama-hosted Ignorance Is Bliss set for release mid 2018.
