Paul St. Hilaire aka Tikiman - ICE by KUBORAUM
published on
For this month’s Digital Sound Residency, Kuboraum welcomes Paul St. Hilaire aka Tikiman, the iconic voice of Berlin’s deep dub techno, known for his long-standing collaborations with Rhythm & Sound and his unmistakable presence that shaped an entire generation of sound.
Merging minimal techno’s hypnotic precision with the spiritual warmth of dub, since the mid-90s Tikiman has been expanding his vocabulary through his solo works and releases under False Tuned, the label he founded in 2019. From the seminal Tikiman Vol. 1 (Kynant Records, 2022) to collaborations alongside Moritz von Oswald, Deadbeat, The Bug, Scion, and Modeselektor, his voice remains one of the most distinctive in contemporary electronic music: weightless yet grounded, melancholic yet full of grace.
With “ICE”, Tikiman distills decades of dub exploration into a stripped yet enveloping form. The track moves in slow motion, its soft, warm basslines and swirling delays blooming into a hazy sound field that unfolds like a one-way ticket to a higher dimension.
