People Get Ready by butchross

"Three to Get Ready" explores the mountain dulcimer in a small combo setting reminiscent of '60s jazz and country, but with a heavier backbeat. Pedal Steel, Electric Piano, Organ, and Drums all mesh with the sharp twang of an Electric Mountain Dulcimer to give the feel of band-in-a-room type recordings like early Blue Note Jazz records or the heyday of Nashville's Music Row. Two of the songs, “Jolene” and “People Get Ready” feature vocals by Hayley Graham Duncan, renowned for her exceptional ability to convey melancholy through her singing.
Of course, this record isn’t a band in the room. Ross has meticulously built these tracks, playing Drums, Bass, Electric Piano, and Organ in addition to Baritone Mountain Dulcimer, Electric Mountain Dulcimer, and in one case, Classical Guitar. Often recording and then re-recording parts multiple times so that instruments recorded earlier can react to improvisations made in later recordings. These tracks are augmented by contributions from Jack Kirton on Pedal Steel, Paul Hendrix on Electric Piano, and Hammond Organ, where he turns in a ripping solo on the Billie Elish tune “What Was I Made For?”
