A pre-employment assessment is a process used by employers to determine if they want to hire someone. It includes a series of tests and interviews to see if the person will fit into the company culture. The goal is to find out if the candidate has what it takes to do the job well. In some cases, a background check may include credit checks, criminal records, and references from previous employers. If the employer wants to know more about a potential employee’s personal life, they might ask about marital status, family members, hobbies, and any health issues. An employment assessment is similar to a pre-employment assessment, except it focuses on the actual job instead of the person. Once the employer decides to offer the job, they need to decide which aspects of the job they want to assess. Why Use Pre-Employment Tests? The first step in pre-employment testing is to determine if the applicant has any disqualifying medical conditions. This includes conditions like diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, thyroid problems, and mental health issues. If they do, then it may not be appropriate to hire them. If there isn't anything wrong with their physical condition, then the next thing to consider is whether they meet the minimum requirements for the job. These include things like age, education, experience, and salary expectations. Some jobs require specific certifications, so this is another area where pre-employment testing comes in handy.
