Tradition - Eternity by blocksrecordingclub

Though quiet and intimate, Tradition’s In Small Gestures . . . is a powerful collection of songs of praise, of hurt, of honesty, of love and their intersections. Overtaking these gestures is a breathy eternal drone bookending each track as if the song was pulled from the ominous void. Somewhere between the unapologetic intonations of Scott Walker and the experienced croonings of Bonnie “Prince” Billy, Tradition lures you in and surprises you and inspires you. “We’re going to find a pulse and paint it red, we’re going to believe in something,” sings James Klassen, the man behind Tradition, on the album’s final track,“Eternity”. Here he’s asking us to believe in the colour of birch tree bark, falling flowers, or a girl who tells you “this’ll never last”.
