Sydney and Nundle

Born in October’s avatar

Ethereal harmonies and synchronicity with an alluring vulnerability define the dreamy Australian indie/folk duo Born in October. City boy Matt Thomson (vocals, guitar) and country girl Rachel Webster (vocals, guitar, ukulele), have paired up to release their debut EP 'Running in Bare Feet' recorded by Aria nominated producer Mark Myers in Cairns. 'Free of Heart', the first song off the EP, has just been announced as a semi-finalist in the prestigious ISC (International Songwriting Competition) in the Folk/Singer-songwriter category. The duo have turned the challenges of living 5 hours apart into an advantage, fusing their country hick and city hip, by playing gigs and festivals in both of these worlds. They recently added a folk flavour at the Tamworth Country Music festival with a series of shows, and launched their debut EP 'Running in Bare Feet' at the uber cool Newsagency in Annandale, Sydney. Other festival appearances include: St Albans Folk Festival, Nimbin Roots Festival, Nundle Go For Gold Festival and Burn By Night Festival (Goulburn). The pair continue to pen new material, whilst nibbling copious quantities of grapes and nuts (their secret weapon songwriting fuel of choice). And believe it or not, they were both born in October.
