Fireproof by Body Of Motion

I wore the cross like a necklace,
I said the prayers like lines to recite.
Sunday best, Sunday smile,
But Monday I lived my own life.
I thought I was fireproof,
Safe from the heat, untouched by truth.
Singing words with an empty heart,
Calling on a Name I never knew.
Oh, I built my house on hollow ground,
Shadows rising when the lights went down.
Every ritual couldn’t hide the pain
An empty heart still feels the flame.
Fireproof? No, I never was.
Religion can’t save, only Your blood does.
I was drifting, dry as dust,
'till mercy burned the lies in love.
Now I see the truth:
Only Jesus makes me fireproof.
I wore the mask of a saint,
But behind it was shame and chains.
Tried to fix it with rules and rites,
But the grave was waiting all the same.
Dissatisfied with life, broken at the core,
I fell on my knees - I couldn’t fake it anymore.
And in the ashes, I heard Your voice:
“Child, I’m the flame, but I’m also the choice.”
Fireproof? No, I never was.
Religion can’t save, only Your blood does.
I was drifting, dry as dust,
'till mercy burned the lies in love.
Now I see the truth:
Only Jesus makes me fireproof.
Only Jesus makes me fireproof.
Only Jesus makes me fireproof.
No more empty praise! No more hollow truth!
My heart is Yours!
My heart is Yours!
No more empty praise! No more hollow truth!
My heart is Yours!
My heart is Yours!
Now I’m fireproof.
