Brighton

Base-Born started his humble beginnings as DJ at Sussex Uni in Brighton, UK (under the rather dubious but funny DJ name Fuzzy Bear :p), playing an eclectic blend of 80’s Indie and 60’s and 70’s psychedelia , but soon the Detroit Techno and Northern UK techno scene started to take over his DJ sets in the early nineties – think LFO, Sweet Exorcist, and Forgemasters mixed with Carl Craig, Juan Aktins and Djax-Up-Beats trax. Soon the indie / guitar based music was a thing of the past and true storming UK / German / US techno dominated the decks whenever Fuzzy hit the dance floor. Numerous free parties and after clubbing DJ sessions landed Fuzzy a regular Friday night DJ slot at the world famous Zap Club in Brighton with Eric Powell (Protection and Red – at the time rated in the top 10 of Friday nights in the UK), where he kept the dance floor rockin for many a hot and sweaty night ! Mid ‘95 saw Fuzzy form a music making partnership with Mike Dalton and release his first 12” on Loaded Records - Gravity / Zero-G Fuzzy’s first release was an instant classic with its funky and catchy space disco / techno theme, receiving a 5* review from DJ magazine, a prime playing on Pete Tong’s Friday night Essential Mix show, and numerous club land spins from Brighton to Vancouver ! This first release was soon followed the next year with another classic track on Loaded Records – Cardi / Who Are We ? The summer of 1996 saw Fuzzy’s appearance at the Essential Festival in Brighton, alongside world renowned DJ’s such as Luke Slater . After a few years away from the scene Fuzzy has been re-incarnated as Base-Born with a series of new club techno and electronic inspired tracks that are set to propel Base-Born back into the club scene with a resound booooommmm boom tikka boom !
