Unkle Mo is the creative force of Morgan Wood—a New Orleans-based songwriter, guitarist, and producer. The band’s name—Unkle Mo—is a nickname known among New Orleans musicians, reflecting the deep community roots and personal connections that shape the group. The band formed with a core three-piece lineup, including Morgan’s real-life nephews Chris Roberts on bass and Jack Janas, a songwriter and occasional bassist, adding a family dimension to the project. Supported by a rotating cast of top-tier musicians from across South Louisiana, Unkle Mo delivers a high-energy blend of rock, country, funk, blues, and boogie rock. Morgan is known for his signature, undefeated tone, achieved by playing Gibson guitars through Mesa Boogie tube-powered amplification—crafting the vibrant sound that drives the band’s powerful live and recorded performances. Unkle Mo has released four independent original albums, with music featured on ESPN’s SportsCenter highlight segments.
