Anemoia (OSC #193) by The Sound Of Merlin
published on
For this track I used 11 instances of a wonderful synth named Thorn by Dmitry Sches (DS Audio). All modulations of the parameters have been done live by making use of aftertouch and/or the modulation wheel. So no automations other than some volume changes here and there. In a studio setting, I think this makes the music nice and organic. Of course, a DJ on stage always does this.
The title “Anemoia” is referring to the phenomenon of feeling nostalgic to a time or place that one has not experienced before...

I really like the Intro Part, it creates such a nice ambience and atmosphere, but i have to say Well done, the sound design is great, the mix – despite the bass heavyness ( I like the ambient parts a bit better) – sounds still decent and the genre is well hit! [My favorite part btw is the end segment from 7:00 onward – I like how the rhythmic stabs work together with the rest of the instrumentalization :D]

And VERY classy EDM of a decidedly good natured sort. Excellent !

Lovely delicate soundscaping !

It sounds spontaneous, hypnotic and has no length despite its length. Great atmosphere!

There are a number of headspace both natural and enhanced for which this would be a perfect soundtrack.

Nice warmth in the intro

Very impressed with the range of sounds, it's amazing that only 11 instances were used!

Good track but as has been mentioned the bass at times feels too loud and boomy and doesn't it well in the mix. Also IMO it is too long for an OSC track (it is over 3 times the length of my entry this month).

Nice use of beautiful sounds for a cinematic intro. Good luck in OSC!

The juxtaposition of the ambient elements and the rhythmic drive is nice.
