BARA JAM (2018) is coming to an end tonight

I wanted to thank everyone so much for the overwhelmingly supportive community that's come from involvement in this jam. Whether or not you participated directly, thank you for being present, telling your friends, sharing advice/experiences and playing our games.

A special thanks go to my Co-Hosts Bishounen_P, IVAN and eZombo. Without you this would've been so much harder.

Bara Jam (2018) was a great success and many have said they've been hard pressed to have found a community and game jam that they enjoyed so much.

Today we’ll showcase one of the BARA JAM entries! It’s technically still “InDev” considering that currently it’s a demo. However, Robin Morningwood Adventure is a stylish looking game with a lot of polish. So let’s take a look!

Robin Morningwood Adventure is a point and click/dating sim NSFW game.

SUMMARY: Play Robin, who, after a long travel, discovers the village of Whellcum. But there is something strange about this place... Only gay villagers... you hear about a tyrant king... What's going on here? You quickly have to help the villagers, build your own house and discover the Whellcum's secret by many erotic and funny situations! AND MOST IMPORTANTLY... you can collect underwears from the villagers to SNIFF THEM! Sniffing underwears allows you to relive the hottest memories the previous owner has experienced.

We are mainly 2 in this project: Stewy (Steve) as the illustrator and Chewy (Justin) as the programmer. We haven't any patreon, at first, we made this for fun in our free time and it was a great experience! But then, we were waiting for the feedbacks from the players to know if we could start thinking about a Kickstarter campaign because it's taking us so much unexpected time to develop... We clearly need a full time illustrator to draw and animate all the story if we would a full version before 2025... ^^'

BARA JAM “InDev” Update! With BARA JAM winding down, everyone is feverishly trying to pull together their entries and either finish them completely (some have completed and are either entered or are being polished) or wrap them up into a tight demo. Blood & Lust: Aelius with different expressions and outfits, as well as some NPC characters.

BARA JAM is halfway done, and the creators/devs are working hard to get as far along in their games and finish them up either before or on the deadline. This week’s “InDev” feature is a game by Deevil called “Incubus Academy”. Deevil wants to keep the story a bit of a mystery, but essentially, Incubus Academy is a bara vn where you meet underworld hunky professors while trying to manage your school life. 1 week in and there’s been a lot of new participants in Bara Jam, as well as brand new entries popping up. For this week’s “InDev” spotlight, I’ll be showing an entry called “Dude & Devils”. This VN is by MarshallBananas and HeyPau, and it features a really neat game mechanic!

SUMMARY: “Dudes and Devils is a visual novel role-playing game. Instead of sitting around the table using your imagination however, you’re whisked into a world of intrigue and adventure, taking on the role of a mighty orc hero on a mission to stop an evil Count from bringing about chaos and war. 

To get through it, you will need to use different skills to overcome many challenges. Will you play a specialist, or an orc-of-all-trades? Either way, may the dice be in your favor… who knows what kind of crazy situations you might end up in if it betrays you! The fates will have a variety of unique random scenarios in store for you each time you play: you’ll have to adapt and overcome if you are to complete your quest.

You will also meet a variety of interesting (and bara) characters along the way: fiendish henchman, dashing nobles… win them over and they might even be prepared to join you on your quest… perhaps even stay once it’s over.

Do you have what it takes to infiltrate the castle, rescue the hostages, expose the evil Count’s dastardly scheme and bring peace to the realm? This week I’m proud to showcase an “InDev” Bara Jam entry by two of my pals, namely Bob of YAGS and Poorlyformed of Shadowburg fame.

“Earth Boys Are Easy” or EBAE (we were joking how the acronym could stand for Extraterrestrial-Bae <3 ) looks like an absurdly fresh comedy with romantic tones and, from what I’ve overheard, sexy NSFW fun! It’ll also be full of eggplants and alien...eggplants. 

SUMMARY: “ Luke likes large legumes. So of course, he instead ended up working a large eggplant farm in the middle of nowhere. His wishes for some male companionship are answered when a BARA spaceship crash lands among his prized purple plants. But he soon finds that the two handsome humanoids may be more than he can handle.

Is Luke, at long last, done looking for love? Or will he find that they are simply too many worlds apart?”

BARA JAM “InDev” Update! 

Blood & Lust: Here’s some more art from the upcoming Bara Jam entry, including new colored art of the MC “Aelius” as well as a screenshot of in-progress UI. This is definitely one to watch for!

BARAJAM (2018) and Halloween are fast approaching! Let’s take another look at another Game Jam entry as part of our “InDev Series”. This one comes to us from Rob Colton! A first time VN creator, but long time author of gay novels, his first foray into game dev is with a bara sci-fi entry titled: “Human Cargo”. Summary:  “ Yoshi Garcia is stuck in a rut, professionally and personally... until he finds himself kidnapped by alien pirates. At first opportunity, he escapes, stowing away aboard a cargo freighter, where he hopes to hide out until he can sneak off the ship. Unfortunately for Yoshi, he's immediately discovered by the freighter crew.

Kol is the gruff warrior who commands the ship. Razix, the red-skinned flirty Regulan, is the ship's hot-shot pilot. Zed, the furry beast, is the security chief. Nasir, the territorial human, keeps the ship's systems running. And finally, Doc, the intelligent blue-skinned Sargan, keeps the crew patched up. Happy Sunday Funday! Here’s another BARAJAM entry that’s been seeing a lot of DevUpdates and dare I say is probably one of the furthest along games. It’s by Death Rule creator: Hijiri and his game is titled “Where The White Doves Rest”. 

A menacing NSFW Bara/BxB Horror game...and you know me, there’s nothing I like more than BaraXHorror. Let’s take a look: WTWDR Synopsis: “Darkness crept into Daichi Ibato’s once uneventful life the moment he was kicked out of his house.  Now owing a debt of gratitude, a man named Kenji Kagemori welcomes Daichi into his home as a caretaker for his aging father Rintaro.

As Daichi begins his new life in the Kagemori home in Hanagawa, he can't shake his focus from the looming shadow of the Grave Tree, as a similar shadow envelops Kenji and Rintaro. Can Daichi discover the truth of his new family in time, before the darkness consumes them all?”

Hi everyone! In honor of BARA JAM only being two weeks away (that's right, only two weeks before it kicks off!), I'd like to share "Bara Boarders" with you! It's my own WIP submission to BARA JAM! If you would like to join our game jam, please do so HERE.

Bara Boarders is a short and cute VN that takes place on an idyllic beach in Hawaii. You are a newbie surfer, whose been out on the waves enough times, but is aching to finally catch a wave and stay up on your board for the first time. You're determined that today will be the day!

Thing is, you're going to run into distractions, other handsome surfers - will they hinder or can they help you on your quest in paradise today?

Bara Boarders features a game mechanic I've never tried before. At any point, you can click a "Phone Number" button on the HUD, essentially asking a guy for his phone number. If he's feeling you, he'll exchange numbers with you, but getting it is all about understanding the flow of conversation, social/emotional intelligence, timing and let's face it...luck! (Like in real life)

October is almost halfway done, which means BARAJAM is on the horizon! Like our "Bara of The Week" posts, we'll also be showcasing "In Development" entries that have surfaced through our Discord.

Today we'll be featuring a Bara Game called: "Blood and Lust" (this is a working title)

SUMMARY: Aelius, an ex-gladiator turned slave, is about to be freed by his master, three years before the end of his ten-year slavery sentence.

One night Aelius discovers that his master has been killed, and his master's son refuses to set him free unless, Aelius can find his late-master's will. It soon turns into a tangled mystery of whether the death was accidental or of something much more sinister.

This is being developed by Ertal and Wolfscade. The images are in progress art from their submission.

Hi everyone! I'm excited to announce that the first ever "BARA JAM" is now open to the public for viewing and to sign up! BARA JAM 2018 is hosted on itch.io here: [insert itch website]

BARA JAM is a 1 month long game jam, beginning on November 1st - 30th, dedicated to creating male and/or male-relationship focused games that feature the "BARA" influence. Bara content lean towards containing a character(s) who are muscular, of bear-like build, possibly hairy or rugged. Although Bara can mean different things to different people, a good summary of this jam is a focus on non-bishounen characters, a reflection of varied body shapes and comfortable masculinity.

So start discussions, find a team, spread the word or get hype by joining us and finding out more through BARA JAM's media:
