#they really said “you can’t use wiki as an academic source-use our garbage AI that’s even less reliable”#and you can’t even opt out of it

no but you can FORCE it away. use ublock origin and copy paste the blacklist i made into the filters to be able to remove the bullshit AI overview that google forces. it also removes youtube's forced ads (at least until they fix it)

you can also use the ublacklist extension and use this blacklist of AI image generation websites to curate your google image results

there are ALWAYS ways around stuff. it's just a matter of looking into it and asking around

If a post doesn't apply to you it means the person who made it is excluding you on purpose. If someone makes a broad generalization in a tumblr post it means they know about your individual experiences and they're ignoring you deliberately because they hate you and want to make you mad. So if you see a post that doesn't factor in your personal perspective you should make sure to leave a comment of at least three paragraphs to make sure the op knows how deeply they have hurt you and how serious the matter truly is

A couple weeks ago I was practicing my owl calls on a night hike and I successfully called in a barred owl. My owl call is pretty good, but I've never called an owl to me from afar because I rarely do night hikes and so I don't get much chance to. I had expected to be really excited about this, especially since two of my coworkers are really skilled at owl calls and they don't usually get a response, much less a full conversation, but instead I felt so guilty. I eventually had to start ignoring this poor deceived owl that was following my call through the park. I felt like I catfished him.

Comment from pixelcurious: What if the owl could tell? What if it was curious about you, a human who can make almost owl-like calls? And that's why it was following you?ALT

I was gonna say "who among us would follow an inhuman voice in the forest yelling HEY, HEY YOU WHAT'S UP?" but then I remembered this website has me pigeonholed as Most Likely To Be Taken By The Fae. So. Yeah fair enough to this owl, I would probably do the same.

Not apocalyptic levels of OhFuck unless you’ve sat through a Cat5, but shit’s been like this for a long time now. We just put up with it for far too fucking long:

Me: I need to go home. There’s a hurricane coming and my basement apartment is on the coast, so I’m worried about my cats. (To myself: And maybe needing to evacuate.)

Boss: Is your house and your cats more important than this job?

Me: YES.

Boss: …oh. Okay. Uh…see you tomorrow…

Different boss, several years later, a conversation that happened multiple times:

Me: Hey, it’s starting to really snow outside, I live on a steep hill, and I only have 2-wheel drive. If I don’t leave now, I can’t get home.

Boss: Is getting home more important than getting your job done tonight?

Me: Considering I value my life more than I value this paperwork being digitized? YES.

Boss: ….

Me: Bye. See you tomorrow.

Boss: Uh, yeah, okay.

Different atttempt:

Boss: Why don’t you just get a hotel after work?

Me: Do I get a raise so I can afford it?

Boss: No.

Me: Bye. See you tomorrow.

Beep boop! I look for accidental haiku posts. Sometimes I mess up.

Haikubot aside we should normalize saying those things to bosses absolutely. It’s only going to get worse.

What’s crazy is how the bosses are so conditioned to guilt trip and then when they don’t get the response they expect, they don’t even follow through on the demand, like “oh, uh, I guess that’s okay then.” They’ve been trained, but when you break the training, it turns out they’re kind of real people.
