Safe Solar Viewing Starts with the Right Filter
Each Seymour Solar ND5 white-light filter is designed for safe solar viewing when properly mounted on your telescope. This image shows a Helios slip-on filter in use.
Safe Front-Mounted ND5 White Light Filters
Seymour Solar ND5 White Light filter materials are engineered to achieve optical-density and transmittance levels appropriate for safe solar observation in white light.
These filters are designed for front-mounted use on telescopes, cameras, and binoculars to reduce the Sun’s intensity by a factor of 100,000 (ND = 5.0) while preserving fine solar detail and natural color tone.
Not for direct eye use or as eclipse glasses. ISO 12312-2 applies only to eyewear; these filters are built to achieve similar transmittance criteria for optical instruments.
