What Did They Do to the Ultimate 90s It Girl?

Winona Ryder was THE Nineties It Girl. She ruled the hearts and minds of GenXers across the world (guilty) - and dated a string of A-list rock and movie stars - only to fall from grace in the hardest way at the dawn of the new millennium.

The Twin (Universe) Paradox, Part III: Hell Comes to Your House

So we've talked about Twin Earths and Twin Dimensions, but what happens when some kind of alien force comes to Earth and tries to turn our world into theirs? After all, this is the ultimate form of colonization.

The Twin (Universe) Paradox, Part Two: Mirror, Mirror

Let's just say for a minute that there's a parallel universe and a Twin Earth that somehow became aware of us. How would these other-earthlings make themselves known to our world?

Secret Sun Video Mystery Hour: American Gladio

This month we have Dana of the must-watch Rotting Jewels YouTube channel. Dana is a frighteningly meticulous researcher and is looking into the nexus of spookery and culture creation that will be very familiar to longtime Secret Sun readers.

Dig in.

Everything New is Old Again

The Stranger Things Quadragennial wraps up with a specially-curated playlist of songs hitting the airwaves in November of 1983.

And if you're new to all this, be sure to read up on how 1983 was the year that broke reality. I don't know how or why the Duffer Brothers chose that year, but believe me - they chose well.

Something came through the veil in 1983, and we're just now beginning to grasp the enormity of it. Much of what is now being reaped - on a worldwide scale - was first sown forty years ago.

Syncher Things: Must Be a Clash, There's No Alternative

There’s a general consensus that World War One and World War Two weren’t really different wars, but one long war with a twenty-one year armistice.

Stranger Things Quadragennial: The Music that Broke Reality

The early Eighties really were as magical and awesome as you’ve been led to believe, even if the seeds of our future heartaches were being planted in the dark. Me, I was 17 in November of 1983, and it’s remained a lost mystical land I like to escape to when the stars are just right ever since.

Forty Years in the Wilderness of the Unreal

They say History repeats, first as tragedy and then as farce. But how exactly does that work when Reality itself is irreparably broken?

Stranger Things 4 Livestream

Depressed the holiday's over? Don't be: we'll be capping off the long weekend tonight (July 4th) at 10 PM ET with a deep dive into the unspoken subtexts of Stranger Things 4...

Johnny Depp, Stranger Things, the Apocalypse and You

Well, there's a lot shaking in Secret Sun City, and the syncs are swarming like starlings all over the liminal sphere. I hadn't planned on getting into the whole Johnny Depp thing again, but then he and Jeff Beck had to go and cover a Killing Joke stomper during a victory gig at Royal Albert Hall. And as you might imagine, a new gaping hole then opened up in the Swiss cheese we once naively called "Reality."

Stranger Things Deep Dive Sizzle Reel

We took a very deep dive on Stranger Things and the real-life horrors lurking behind it during a Secret Sun Institute livestream last night. There's more to come, because to understand where we are today, we need to understand how it all began.

Stranger Things Deep Dive Livestream

Come join us for an epic deep dive on the disturbing history (and unsettling future) behind the Stranger Things phenomenon. There's a lot more going on with this series besides monsters, mind control and Eighties nostalgia.

Sirens, Shimmers and Even Stranger Things

She turned thirteen on...

I'm still in the middle of my Stranger Things 4 watch but I can say definitively that it's leagues above the wretched third season, wherein the writers tried to repurpose the franchise as a comedy and failed like very few things have failed in all of human history.

1983: The Year That Broke Reality

That helmet looks vaguely Kirbyesque

1983 hovers like a wraith over all of my work and I've never been quite sure why. All I know is that I sensed something definitively change in the spring and summer of that year, even if those changes have only become apparent in the past few years.

But all I can say for sure is that something somehow seemed to have entered our world from somewhere else.

UFOs? More like UF-NO's

Around 2011 or so I coined Knowles' Law on UFOs: "The probability that a UFO story is a deliberate hoax is correlative to the amount of mainstream media coverage it receives."

I think this is a very useful law to keep in mind these days.

MKUltraterrestrial 3.0

A brain, being washed

As the apocalyptic process fires up back to a boil in the dark months of April and May, it's only fitting that the Great Work MKULTRA3.0 psychedelic research is heating up as well. I'm sure Secret Sun regulars (and irregulars) know my take on what the true goal of this program is, and if not, check out my most recent appearance on The Higherside Chats.

X-Files: Old Black Oil, Keep on Rolling

Things are very, very hectic here but I didn't want to keep the Sunsters without some fresh grist for their mills.
