This record comes from a combined love of ambient music and folk, and is a small attempt at bringing those worlds together. Armed with 2 cheap mics and a portable cassette recorder I carried around with me, I set to recording in my bedroom, on trains, at work, on holiday - chasing ideas down rabbit holes all across England over summer and autumn in 2023. Track 2 was recorded in a field in Suffolk, whilst my partner slept in the cabin behind me, one mic way too close to the guitar so you can practically hear my heartbeat and the other so far away it only picked up birdsong. Track 5 is built around a recording I made in a cave in Cornwall, on holiday with my family, as the sound of a car leaving the bay bounced off the walls and mixed with all the dripping seawater.

Learning to sample really opened the door for a lot of these tracks, and also contributed to a lot of time spent making synths I am pretty sure I will never ever actually use. Special thanks to Will for lending me his cassette recorder which started the whole sampling process and really opened my eyes to a whole new type of sound. There is a lot of joy to be had wandering around the world, headphones on and a mic pointed at just about whatever you come across.

Thanks again to Will for help mixing, and to Pat for more mixing and mastering. Thanks Mum and Dad for letting me record at home. Thanks to Matthew for releasing it and thanks Joey for everything else.
