ABOUT
A wire service for the founders the press keeps missing.
There has never been more good software being shipped, and there have never been fewer journalists left to cover it. RuntimeWire is a small, independent media startup built to close that gap.
Who we are
We are a team of operators and editors who have spent our careers inside startups — shipping products, raising money, hiring engineers at 2am, and watching friends do genuinely important work that almost nobody wrote about. The tech press keeps consolidating around the same handful of mega-companies, and the long tail of founders building real things keeps getting quieter. We started RuntimeWire because that bothered us.
We are an independent newsroom, not a content farm. Every claim links back to a primary source you can check yourself, and we stand behind everything we publish.
What we cover
We watch the entire surface area of the AI and startup economy and publish what actually matters: seed and Series A rounds at companies you have not heard of yet, founder moves and small-team acquisitions, real AI product launches (not vibe demos), accelerator graduates shipping v1, and the model, infrastructure, and devtool releases that change how things get built. We are biased toward shipped work and primary sources over rumor and palace intrigue.
Our values
- Founder-first. Every story answers three questions: who is the founder, what did they actually ship, and why should an operator, founder, or investor reading this care today.
- Primary sources or it didn't happen. We read filings, founder posts, and company blogs before press releases, and we link back so you can verify every claim yourself.
- Independent. Advertisers, sponsors, investors, and the subjects of our reporting do not get to approve or kill stories. Editorial decisions belong to the newsroom.
- Plain English, fast. No jargon, no fluff, no filler. Bloomberg over BuzzFeed.
How we work
We are a lean team covering a beat that used to take a much larger one, so we lean hard on modern tools — including AI — to move faster. Our team uses AI to monitor sources, surface what is genuinely new across thousands of feeds, transcribe, summarize long documents, and handle the grunt work of research. That leverage is what lets a small newsroom keep up with the whole industry.
What doesn't change is the standard. Every claim is tied to a primary source and linked so you can verify it yourself, and we stand behind everything we publish. AI helps us move faster; it does not change our accountability for what goes live. For the specifics, see our AI use policy.
Where we are
RuntimeWire is based in Austin, Texas and San Francisco, California — close to the founders, funds, and labs we cover.
