内輪と外輪との間の環状隙間を封止する、ハブベアリングに用いられる密封装置において、
前記内輪に取り付けられる円筒部と、前記円筒部の端部に設けられる外向きフランジ部と、を有するスリンガーと、
補強環と、前記補強環に一体的に設けられるエラストマー材料からなる弾性シール部と、を有し、前記外輪に取り付けられるシール本体と、
を備える密封装置であって、
前記弾性シール部は、
メインリップと、
径方向外側かつ密封対象空間とは反対側に向かって伸びて前記外向きフランジ部に接するサイドリップと、
前記メインリップと前記サイドリップとの間に設けられ、径方向外側かつ前記密封対象空間とは反対側に向かって伸びて前記外向きフランジ部に接する中間リップと、
を備えると共に、
前記サイドリップと前記中間リップとの間で形成される第1環状凹部よりも、前記サイドリップの外周面に沿うように形成される第2環状凹部の方が、前記内輪の中心軸線方向かつ前記密封対象空間側への凹みの深さが深いことを特徴とする。
第2環状凹部の底は、前記補強環外向きフランジ部における前記外輪が嵌合される側の面よりも、前記内輪の中心軸線方向かつ前記密封対象空間側に位置するとよい。
前記外環部と前記シール本体の外周面側との間にラビリンスシール部が形成されているとよい。
円柱面状の外周面と、平面状の端面と、前記外周面と前記端面とを繋ぐ湾曲面とを有する内輪と、
前記内輪と同心的に設けられる外輪と、
前記内輪と前記外輪との間の環状隙間を封止する、ハブベアリングに用いられる密封装置と、
を備える密封構造において、
前記密封装置は、
前記内輪に取り付けられる円筒部と、前記円筒部の端部に設けられる外向きフランジ部と、を有するスリンガーと、
補強環と、前記補強環に一体的に設けられるエラストマー材料からなる弾性シール部と、を有し、前記外輪に取り付けられるシール本体と、
を備え、
かつ、前記弾性シール部は、
メインリップと、
径方向外側かつ密封対象空間とは反対側に向かって伸びて前記外向きフランジ部に接するサイドリップと、
前記メインリップと前記サイドリップとの間に設けられ、径方向外側かつ前記密封対象空間とは反対側に向かって伸びて前記外向きフランジ部に接する中間リップと、
を備えると共に、
前記円筒部は前記内輪における前記外周面に沿って取り付けられ、かつ前記外向きフランジ部は前記内輪における前記端面に密接するように取付けられると共に、前記スリンガーは、前記円筒部と前記外向きフランジ部とを繋ぐように設けられ、前記内輪における前記湾曲面に密接する湾曲部を有することを特徴とする。
第2環状凹部の底は、前記補強環外向きフランジ部における前記外輪が嵌合される側の面よりも、前記内輪の中心軸線方向かつ前記密封対象空間側に位置することも好適である。
前記外環部と前記シール本体の外周面側との間にラビリンスシール部が形成されているとよい。
本実施例に係る密封装置が適用可能なハブベアリングについて、図1を参照して説明する。図1は本発明の実施例に係るハブベアリングの模式的断面図である。図1においては、内輪の(回転)中心軸線を含む面でハブベアリングを切断した断面図を簡略的に示している。
図2~図4を参照して、本発明の実施例に係る密封装置及び密封構造について説明する。図2は本発明の実施例に係る密封装置の模式的断面図である。図2においては、密封装置がハブベアリングに組み込まれた際の内輪20の一部と外輪30の一部を点線にて示している。なお、図2は密封装置の中心軸線を含む面で密封装置を切断した断面図を示している。図3は本発明の実施例に係るスリンガーの概略構成図であり、スリンガーの中心軸線を含む面でスリンガーの一部を切断した断面図を図中上部に示し、図中下部に外観図を示している。図4は本発明の実施例に係るシール本体の概略構成図であり、シール本体の中心軸線を含む面でシール本体の一部を切断した断面図を図中上部に示し、図中下部に外観図を示している。本実施例に係る密封装置100は、特に、上記のアウターシールとして好適に適用することができる。以下、アウターシールとして適用される密封装置100及び密封装置100を備える密封構造の実施例を説明する。なお、本発明の密封装置は、自動車用のハブベアリング用途に限らず、産業用ハブベアリングの他、各種用途に採用し得る。
本実施例に係る密封構造は、内輪20と、内輪20と同心的に設けられる外輪30と、内輪20と外輪30との間の環状隙間を封止する密封装置100とを備えている。内輪20は、円柱面状の外周面22と、平面状の端面23と、外周面22と端面23とを繋ぐ湾曲面24とを有している。そして、外輪30におけるタイヤ側(A)の先端付近の円環状部分31と、内輪20における外周面22、端面23、及び湾曲面24との間の環状の空間部分に密封装置100が配置される。
本実施例に係る密封装置100は、金属などの剛性材料により構成されるスリンガー110と、シール本体120とを備えている。
本実施例に係る密封装置100、及び密封装置100を備える密封構造によれば、泥水などの異物の侵入抑制の向上を図ることができる。これにより、各種シールリップ(特に、メインリップ122a)による密封機能を長期に亘り発揮させることができる。また、内輪20に泥水等の異物が付着して、錆びついてしまうことも抑制することができる。以上より、密封装置100の耐久寿命を延ばすことができる。以下、泥水などの異物の侵入抑制の向上を図ることができる理由について、より詳細に説明する。
上記実施例においては、泥水などの異物がメインリップ122aのシール部に侵入することを抑制するために複数の手段を採用している。しかしながら、使用環境によっては、必ずしも全ての手段を採用する必要はない。

- 内輪と外輪との間の環状隙間を封止する、ハブベアリングに用いられる密封装置において、
前記内輪に取り付けられる円筒部と、前記円筒部の端部に設けられる外向きフランジ部と、を有するスリンガーと、
補強環と、前記補強環に一体的に設けられるエラストマー材料からなる弾性シール部と、を有し、前記外輪に取り付けられるシール本体と、
を備える密封装置であって、
前記弾性シール部は、
メインリップと、
径方向外側かつ密封対象空間とは反対側に向かって伸びて前記外向きフランジ部に接するサイドリップと、
前記メインリップと前記サイドリップとの間に設けられ、径方向外側かつ前記密封対象空間とは反対側に向かって伸びて前記外向きフランジ部に接する中間リップと、
を備えると共に、
前記サイドリップと前記中間リップとの間で形成される第1環状凹部よりも、前記サイドリップの外周面に沿うように形成される第2環状凹部の方が、前記内輪の中心軸線方向かつ前記密封対象空間側への凹みの深さが深いことを特徴とする密封装置。 - 前記補強環は、前記外輪の内周面に嵌合される補強環円筒部と、前記補強環円筒部の端部に設けられる補強環外向きフランジ部と、を有しており、
第2環状凹部の底は、前記補強環外向きフランジ部における前記外輪が嵌合される側の面よりも、前記内輪の中心軸線方向かつ前記密封対象空間側に位置することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の密封装置。 - 前記スリンガーは、前記外向きフランジ部の径方向外側から前記内輪の中心軸線方向かつ前記密封対象空間側に向かって伸びる外環部を有しており、
前記外環部と前記シール本体の外周面側との間にラビリンスシール部が形成されていることを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載の密封装置。 - 前記メインリップは、前記スリンガーにおける前記円筒部の外周面に接することを特徴とする請求項1,2または3に記載の密封装置。
- 前記サイドリップと前記中間リップは、前記外向きフランジ部における平面状の端面に接することを特徴とする請求項1~4のいずれか一つに記載の密封装置。
- 内輪と、
前記内輪と同心的に設けられる外輪と、
前記内輪と前記外輪との間の環状隙間を封止する請求項1~5のいずれか一つに記載の密封装置と、
を備えることを特徴とする密封構造。 - 円柱面状の外周面と、平面状の端面と、前記外周面と前記端面とを繋ぐ湾曲面とを有する内輪と、
前記内輪と同心的に設けられる外輪と、
前記内輪と前記外輪との間の環状隙間を封止する、ハブベアリングに用いられる密封装置と、
を備える密封構造において、
前記密封装置は、
前記内輪に取り付けられる円筒部と、前記円筒部の端部に設けられる外向きフランジ部と、を有するスリンガーと、
補強環と、前記補強環に一体的に設けられるエラストマー材料からなる弾性シール部と、を有し、前記外輪に取り付けられるシール本体と、
を備え、
かつ、前記弾性シール部は、
メインリップと、
径方向外側かつ密封対象空間とは反対側に向かって伸びて前記外向きフランジ部に接するサイドリップと、
前記メインリップと前記サイドリップとの間に設けられ、径方向外側かつ前記密封対象空間とは反対側に向かって伸びて前記外向きフランジ部に接する中間リップと、
を備えると共に、
前記円筒部は前記内輪における前記外周面に沿って取り付けられ、かつ前記外向きフランジ部は前記内輪における前記端面に密接するように取付けられると共に、前記スリンガーは、前記円筒部と前記外向きフランジ部とを繋ぐように設けられ、前記内輪における前記湾曲面に密接する湾曲部を有することを特徴とする密封構造。 - 前記サイドリップと前記中間リップとの間で形成される第1環状凹部よりも、前記サイドリップの外周面に沿うように形成される第2環状凹部の方が、前記内輪の中心軸線方向かつ前記密封対象空間側への凹みの深さが深いことを特徴とする請求項7に記載の密封構造。
- 前記補強環は、前記外輪の内周面に嵌合される補強環円筒部と、前記補強環円筒部の端部に設けられる補強環外向きフランジ部と、を有しており、
第2環状凹部の底は、前記補強環外向きフランジ部における前記外輪が嵌合される側の面よりも、前記内輪の中心軸線方向かつ前記密封対象空間側に位置することを特徴とする請求項8に記載の密封構造。 - 前記スリンガーは、前記外向きフランジ部の径方向外側から前記内輪の中心軸線方向かつ前記密封対象空間側に向かって伸びる外環部を有しており、
前記外環部と前記シール本体の外周面側との間にラビリンスシール部が形成されていることを特徴とする請求項7,8または9に記載の密封構造。 - 前記メインリップは、前記スリンガーにおける前記円筒部の外周面に接することを特徴とする請求項7~10のいずれか一つに記載の密封構造。
