Definitions
- the present invention relates to a pillar outer garnish mounting structure for mounting a pillar outer garnish along a front pillar sandwiched between a door glass and a windshield of a sashless door, and a roof side rail sandwiched between the door glass and a roof glass. .
- a roof side molding (pillar outer garnish) that covers the front pillars and the roof side rails of the vehicle is inserted into the locking grooves of a plurality of clips at predetermined intervals along the outer edge of the roof panel in the vehicle width direction at predetermined intervals on the roof side molding.
- Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open Publication No. H11-64131 discloses a method in which a plurality of locking claws provided are locked, and a rear end of a roof side molding is attached to a front end of the rear fender which is bent in a crank shape by overlapping and bonding the rear end.
- Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open Publication No. HEI 10-163556 discloses a method in which a width direction outer end is attached to a front pillar with a plurality of bolts.
- Patent Document 1 does not have mechanical fastening parts such as bolts and clips, so that not only is reliability low, but also the rear end of the roof side molding is bonded to the rear fender panel. Therefore, it is difficult to remove the roof side molding, and there is a problem that thermal expansion when the roof side molding is made of synthetic resin is not considered.
- the pillar cover is extended rearward to pierce and fix the anti-lifting claw provided on the pillar cover with an adhesive for fixing the windshield to the front pillar.
- the present invention has been made in view of the above circumstances, and has as its object to easily and surely attach a long pillar outer garnish that covers a front pillar and a roof side rail.
- a front pillar sandwiched between a door glass and a windshield of a sashless door, and a roof side rail sandwiched between the door glass and the roof glass are provided.
- a mounting structure for a pillar outer garnish, which is fastened to a roof side rail by mechanical fastening means, is proposed.
- a glass holding member constituting a space for inserting an edge of the roof glass is provided at an inner edge of the pillar outer garnish in a vehicle width direction.
- a mounting structure for a pillar outer garnish is proposed, wherein a guide member for guiding insertion into the space is fixed to an edge of the roof glass.
- a mounting structure for a pillar outer garnish wherein the pillar outer garnish is coupled to the front pillar by a hook-and-loop fastener is proposed.
- a seal rubber member is fixed to an inner end of the pillar outer garnish in the vehicle width direction, and the seal rubber member extends outward in the vehicle width direction.
- a mounting structure for a pillar outer garnish, comprising a first lip abutting on the windshield or the roof glass, is proposed.
- a cap that abuts on the guide member is fitted to an inner end in the vehicle width direction of the glass holding member.
- a garnish mounting structure is proposed.
- the sealing rubber member has a Y-shaped cross section in which a fixing portion and the first lip are bifurcated from a second lip.

- the bolt 25 of the embodiment corresponds to the invention.
- a pillar outer garnish is attached along a front pillar sandwiched between a door glass and a windshield of a sashless door, and a roof side rail sandwiched between the door glass and the roof glass.
- the outer edge of the pillar outer garnish in the vehicle width direction is mechanically fastened to the front pillar and the roof side rail via a retainer that holds a door glass seal rubber that abuts on the door glass, so that the boundary between the front pillar and the roof side rail.
- the rigidity of the pillar outer garnish can be supplemented by the rigidity of the retainer, making the pillar outer garnish thinner and lighter.
- the door glass seal rubber is reliably supported, and the sealing performance of the pillar outer garnish can be improved.
- a glass holding member that forms a space for inserting the edge of the roof glass is fixed to the inner edge of the pillar outer garnish in the vehicle width direction, and the edge of the roof glass is Since the guide member that guides insertion into the space is fixed, the work of assembling the pillar outer garnish to the windshield or roof glass can be performed smoothly, and it is possible to prevent the edge of the windshield or roof glass from cracking. it can.
- the fixing strength of the pillar outer garnish can be further increased.
- a seal rubber member is fixed to an inner end of the pillar outer garnish in the vehicle width direction, and the seal rubber member extends outward in the vehicle width direction and contacts the front glass or the roof glass. Therefore, it is possible to improve the assemblability of the pillar outer garnish with respect to the front glass or the roof glass while preventing water from entering through the gap between the front glass or the roof glass and the pillar outer garnish.

- the seal rubber member has a Y-shaped cross section in which the fixing portion and the first lip are branched into two from the second lip, and the fixing portion is bonded to the pillar outer garnish. Since the lip and the second lip abut against the windshield, the second lip is pressed against the windshield by the reaction force received by the first lip pressed against the windshield, thereby improving the sealing property of the seal rubber member.
- the pillar outer garnish is sealed between the front pillar and the roof side rail by a seal member disposed along the door glass seal rubber, and is provided between the door glass seal rubber and the seal member.
- the partitioned drain passage has a drain port at the front end of the front pillar and at the rear end of the roof side rail, so that the door glass seal rubber and the seal member can be arranged in a double manner to prevent water from entering the passenger compartment reliably. Instead, the water that has passed through the door glass seal rubber can be discharged from the drain through a drain passage defined between the door glass seal rubber and the seal member.
- the thickness of the pillar outer garnish gradually decreases from the inner edge to the outer edge in the vehicle width direction, so that the flow of air from the windshield to the door glass becomes smooth and the air resistance is reduced.
