Abstract
Invention relates to a circuit used in Stick Electrode Welding Machine supplying power 5 from current batteries (1) of the connected vehicles and converting current to welding current in the range of 50 – 200 Amp. without need for generator inlet of 220 – 380 V through an external cable (MMA).
Description
BATTERY DRIVEN STICK ELECTRODE WELDING MACHINE
The Related Art
Invention relates to A Stick Electrode Welding Machine supplying power from the batteries of the connected vehicles from a and capable to convert current to welding current in the range of 50 - 200 Amp. without need for generator inlet of 220 - 380 V through an external cable (MMA).
Background of the Invention
From the related art, 220 V or 380 V voltages from AC mains or supply from generator is needed for operation of welding machines. It provides conditions allowing performance of arcing required for welding in a range of work by means of dropping voltage in mains by help of transformers provided therein and thus amplifying current in order to perform welding producing its own power by use of fuel oil (except diesel engine coupled electrogen type welding machines).
In the related art, emergency electrode welded repair is not possible in the areas where there is no generator or electricity power supply. This case cause time and work loss for users,
Also in present related art, users also encounter time and workforce loss caused by removal of broken part for repair, shipment to repair place and re-mounting in its place.
In the present related art, transportation to places for repair outside the site is a difficult component because welding machine and the generator operating it are heavy. In addition, such repair work requires high budget for enterprise because of leasing and purchase of welding equipment for repair.
In the related art, employment of qualified personnel capable to operate generator and professional welding machine is required. This case increases workforce. As it requires
operation by alternative current (AC), work accidents occurs. Use of welding machine in such way threatens occupational health and safety.
In the related art, since internal resistance of current generators is high, it causes voltage drop in voltage during initial arc starting. This drop causes undesired cases such as material-electrode sticking.
Purpose of the Invention
The invention is an Electrode Welding Machine (MMA) designed to offer a practical, safe, low cost and proper solution for welding repairs in case of faults and problems such as mechanical breaking, disconnections etc. which may occur during operation of any work machines in open fields, sites and farms for farmers producing in agriculture by agricultural machines, which may stop production or works.
Other purposes of the invention are listed below.
It enables repair works without need for generator to meet welding needs that will be needed as a result of breaking, disconnection during plough works in fields, work machines in open fields in mountainous areas and excavation works.
It enables quick restart, quick start of repair, shorten repair period and prevents work stopping.
Since it produces pulse and high frequency welding current, it provides an electrode easy to ignite under any weather circumstances (including windy and rainy weathers).
It is in waiting position as soon as it is connected to battery. STEP Up circuit is not activated and production of welding current is not started before contact of electrode to welding area. Arc and welding starts 1/4 seconds after initial contact. It goes into sleep mode again after 10 seconds. Thus it does not consume current from battery when it is in idle status.
With its minimalist structure and lighter than 7 kg weight, it is easy to carry.
Detailed Description of the Invention
Stick Electrode Welding Machine (MMA) designed to achieve the purpose of this invention is shown in the figures attached hereto.
Figure 1 - Schematic Drawing of Circuit of Stick Electrode Welding Machine
Stick Electrode Welding Machine (MMA) disclosed under the invention is described in details in reference to numbers in figures in order to provide better understanding. The descriptions below are given in reference to number.
1. Battery
2. Inverter
3. Alternative current path
4. By-pass diode
5. Shock coil filter
Even though the developed MMA Stick Electrode Welding Machine uses Switched- Mode Power Supply logic in general in respect to its technical features all of others directly rectify and switch the mains unexceptionally and thus convert into low welding voltage and high welding current (logic in transformers and conventional smps)
Using the smps technique used in this design, benefiting from low internal resistance of batteries (1) of 90 Ah and above lead acid structure and working at 200 KHz, and IGBT members capable to switch up to 300 amperes, a special STEP UP circuit has been developed. The output of 150 Amp of 36 - 48 V range obtained as a result of the circuit is isolated from voltage of the battery (1) via by-pass diode (4) having T type high current, and is supplied out via compound common anode.
As seen schematically in figure 1 , one end of bypass diode (4) is directly connected to plus (+) polar of battery output while other end rectifies the voltage amplified by STEP UP circuit and generates welding voltage adjusted between 36 - 48 V via common
anode, and welding current performing work. Other end of the battery (1 ) is connected to inverter (2) via 12 V battery inlet.
As shown in Figure 1 , the current from the battery (1 ) is generated by alternative current path (3) starting from inlet point of the inverter (2) and ending at outlet point through bypass diode (4). Thus the current obtained from the battery (1 ) is increased. With this case, circuit is not only dependent on voltage generated by STEP UP and makes the battery (1 ) power base of welding voltage.
Therefore, welding voltage may remain stable at 36 - 48 V level without falling under 1 1 V even at short circuit arc initial times when bypass diode (4) transition loss is considered. Preventing voltage drop encountered during initial arch starting in the related art, an arc starting performance ignited very easily for electrode even under very difficult conditions is gained.
Shock coil filter (5) is connected from the point where alternative current path (2) ends. Shock coil filter (5) is used to filter electrical interferences at the circuit outlet. Current path of shock filter coil (5) is terminated with welding outlet. Other current path from the inverter (2) is terminated with chassis outlet. Outlet connectors are used for welding outlet and chassis outlet,
The invention is developed to provide a welding current and voltage to performed work at 200 Amp. from a low voltage and low internal resistance generator such as battery (1 ) for the first time.
