- the extendable side wall 330, the first side wall 340, the second side wall 350 and the another extendable side wall 360 may extend outwardly from the base 310. As shown in Fig.
- the extendable side wall 330, the first side wall 340, the second side wall 350 and the another extendable side wall 360 may be connected to each other via the pair of panels 332A,332B and the another pair of panels 362A,362B.
- the base 310 may have a quadrilateral profile as shown in Fig. 3B, the base 310 may have a hexagonal profile, an octagonal profile or any profile with even numbered sides.
- Base 310 as shown in the example in Fig. 3A and 3B may be adapted to hold liquid therein such that the food tray 300 may be able to hold food with gravy or soup.
- the base wall 314 is relatively low compared to the overall height of the food tray 300.
- the food tray 300 of Fig. 3A would still be able to contain a reasonable amount of food and yet, after the wall 320 of the food tray 300 is extended and rotated outwardly, be able to enable the diner to easily access the food therein after the widening of the opening 302.
- Fig. 4A shows a perspective view of an example of the food tray 400.
- Food tray 400 may include a lid 42 adapted to cover the opening 402. As shown in Fig. 4, the lid 42 may be pivotally connected to the wall 420. Although the lid 42 may be connected to the second side wall 450 in Fig. 4A, the lid 42 may be pivotally connected to any one of the extendable side wall 430, the second side wall 450, and the another extendable side wall 460.
- Lid 42 may include a securing portion 42S adapted to engage the wall 420 so as to secure the lid to the food tray 400.
- Wall 420 may include a slot 440S to receive the securing portion 42S to secure the lid 42 to the wall 420.
- Fig. 4B shows the food tray 400 as shown in Fig. 4A.
- the lid 42 may be adapted to cover the opening (not shown in Fig. 4B).
- Securing portion 42S may be adapted to engage the slot 440S on the wall 420 to secure the lid 42 onto the food tray 400 to cover it.
- Fig. 5A shows a perspective view of an example of the food box 50.
- Food box 50 may include the food tray 500 and a sleeve 52 adapted to receive the food tray 500 therein.
- Sleeve 52 may include a retaining portion 52R adapted to retain the food tray 500 therein.
- Food tray 500 may include a handle 506 adapted to allow a diner to hold onto to pull the food tray 500 out of the sleeve 52.
- Handle 506 may be recessed within the wall 520 of the food tray 500.
- Fig. 5B shows a perspective view of the food box 50 in Fig. 5B with the food tray 500 adapted to be drawn out of the sleeve 52. After the food tray 500 is being drawn out of the sleeve 52, the food tray 500 may be extended to widen the opening as shown in Fig. 1C.
- the present invention relates to a food tray and a food box generally as herein described, with reference to and/or illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
