Abstract
A lid (3), for instance a disposable lid for a mug item, is provided. The lid comprises a device with a space (5) for a substance by means of which the user can activate a release of the substance to the mug item. The substance, for instance coffee, is retained by means of a film (2) that is pulled off by means of a strip (12) that is activated from the upper side of the lid.
Description
Lid for to go coffee mug
The present invention relates to a lid for instance for a mug by means of which staff can serve for instance coffee.
For customers at petrol stations and similar places where the service is generally fast, it is desirable to be able to serve a good cup of coffee to take away, a so called coffee to go. In these cases it is of importance that serving can take place both rapidly and with a precisely measured amount of coffee in the mug, so that the strength does not differ too much from time to time.
The staff in airplanes, trains, and busses that are to serve the passengers coffee must either serve ready-made coffee or measure out a specific amount of granulated coffee in a mug and subsequently add hot boiled water thereto. During the latter handling the staff will inevitably serve coffee mugs with different coffee strengths, as the staff must measure out granulated coffee manually and rapidly for instance with a small spoon.
Hence, the drawbacks of normal handling of granulated coffee are that the granulated coffee is too inaccurate and hard to handle fast. The handling is best performed at the dining table. Therefore, there will always be the drawback that there is doubt whether the coffee is too strong or too weak, if it is to be prepared rapidly.
It is therefore desirable to provide a lid for a mug that is arranged so that drinks of for instance coffee can be mixed with the same strength from time to time. The lid can be a disposable lid. The disposable lid must be cheap to manufacture and be well suited for mugs for coffee to go.
WO2013/033786 A1 describes a solution in which a substance is contained in a space and said space having a bottom that faces downwards and that can be removed by activating a release mechanism so as to let the substance fall down into another space underneath. The substance is
released through an opening that is formed by a film being pulled through by means of a pulling means. In case the substance is coffee powder, the pulling means is not ideal, as the frayed film will retain some of the coffee powder. Furthermore, there is a risk of leakage when connecting the lid to the mug underneath, as the mechanism is based on that the user rotates the lid in relation to the mug, which means that it must be sealed even though it can be moved.
The lid of WO2013/033786 A1 is not suited for at coffee to go solution. One will spill if one for instance walks with it.
US5979647 describes a mug with a lid that can contain a substance in a space, in which it is possible from the upper side of the lid to push the substance free from the inside of the lid and down into the mug, for instance sugar in coffee. It is proposed that an opening for the liquid beneath can also be provided when the lid is mounted.
It is the object of the invention to provide another solution for a lid for a mug being arranged in such a way that it is always easy to drink with the lid on, while, at the same time, it is easy to activate a release mechanism.
The object is met by means of a lid as described in the preamble of claim 1 having the features of the characterizing part of claim 1.
The lid is a drinking lid and contains a measured amount of what is to be diluted or dissolved in a liquid in the disposable mug, and where the contained granulated coffee can be emptied out by a simple pulling of a film that retains the granulated coffee. The granulated coffee is released and falls out and down into the liquid in the mug as the film is pulled off by means of pulling in a strip of the film that extends up to the surface of the lid through a slit.
In order to make the invention more readily understood, some not limiting examples will be described in the following by means of the drawings, in which Fig. 1 shows a disposable lid according to the invention seen at an acute angle from below. It has a strip that transverses the lid from the film on the lower side to the upper side of the lid, and
Fig. 2 shows the lid of Fig. 1 seen from above.
Fig. 1 shows an example of a disposable lid according to the invention seen from below. Flere, it is shown with a piece of film 2 that can be seen from below. The foil 2 is glued on by means of a suitable type of glue for use when handling food.
The strip 12 is fastened at the end that is furthest away from the slit 13 for the film 2. By pulling the strip 12 from the outside, the film 2 is easily removed by means of a so called "peeling off 180 degree effect" beginning at the end that is furthest away and without the film falling down into the hot water in the mug, while the coffee granules fall down and are dissolved.
Fig. 2 shows an example of the disposable lid 3 that is shown in Fig. 1. The only visible part is the end of the strip 12 that can be pulled from the outside, while the disposable lid 3 is mounted on a mug. The strip extends further through a slit 13 and under the disposable lid and is fastened at the other end thereof to a piece of film 2 that is glued to a space 5 in such a way that the film forms the bottom of the space. The strip 12 can be equipped with barbs (not shown) that, after being pulled through the lid, cause the strip to not fall down into the coffee.
