SON APPAREIL DE MOULAGE ET SA MÉTHODE ITS MOLDING APPARATUS AND METHOD
DESCRIPTION DE L’ART ANTÉRIEUR ET LES MOTIVATIONS DESCRIPTION OF THE PRIOR ART AND THE MOTIVATIONS
The relative popularization of general molding techniques due to the appearance of new synthetic materials might suggest that live model molding is an easy thing, it is not the case and many have tried to put their products at great risk. models while producing poor quality work.
That the purpose of the work is to create an artistic work such as: to conceive a figurative or hyperrealistic sculpture; a composition using fragments; to keep a memory of his face, his hand, that of the baby, or the bust of the mother; in the context of teaching or animation, recreation or exercise, in the medical or aesthetic field; Live model molding is a delicate operation and not without risks.
So, there are many ways to reproduce a hand such as dipping a hand into a molding product in a standard vertical container. It is also possible, by spreading an impression taking product, directly on the whole turn of the hand, and then, to make a shell of plaster in two parts which will serve as formwork, to keep the shape of the hand without deforming it when pouring the replica. But this process is expensive, long, complicated, tedious and very messy. And generally, the imprint is taken on a living model. For the dead, the known custom is the impression of the face and its molding, as a death mask with the process of a plaster print, because of its ease to do it, on a person lying down and motionless.
As for the molding method that comes from the past, LYSISTRATE DE SICYONE is credited with the invention of live model direct molding in the year 324 BC, but it is almost impossible to date it with certainty.
How can one not imagine that if the Egyptians covered their dead with plaster, the ancient sculptors did not make much use of living model molding, as did the sculptors of the l9th and up to our time? The myth, of the replica of the double, cybernetics, the eternal conflict between the partisans of the molding on nature and its detractors, some, seeing it as a means of expression, the imprints being charged with an emotional capital and symbolic, the others, seeing it as a mechanical process, easy and lifeless, devoid of artistic content, are all reasons which allowed the artisans of the molding, on nature, to be mediatised and practiced widely by many professionals and amateurs, but without being recognized as a discipline.
In the past, the funeral urn has always been used to receive the ashes of the deceased thus allowing to put them in the ground, in memory of this one, during the cinerary ceremony. Let's not forget that these are never exposed.
Over time, families decided to display the urns in niches rented by funeral homes. Some people will decide to keep the urns in their homes which allows them to have close to them.
Urns are now decorated to personalize them, according to the beliefs of the deceased, or simply according to their activities or their personal tastes. We can add to these urns, a small sculpture, a low relief, a photo. Cinerary customs are evolving.
We note, too, that the ceremonies are shorter, more abstract, and can become impersonal. The body of the dead is less and less exposed. In the new ways of doing things, there is no artificial element of the body. There are no monuments properly linked to the ballot box. We will find instead: niches that serve as a place to gather. To no longer have the opportunity to see the deceased sitting in a coffin and having the opportunity to touch him, as in the past, can create a feeling of emptiness and absence. During the evenings, one can sometimes feel a certain indifference or a lack of proximity, with the deceased. In the end, it may cause more suffering by the absence of the body than by the presence of the body, for those afflicted.
So, the possibility of having an imprint of the deceased's hand, waving a last goodbye, is very symbolically loaded and it could soften his departure from these relatives. Possessing an artificial replica of the deceased's hand could bring the family closer to the deceased and help them cope with their absence, as well as support them in mourning. It would keep a mark of its passage, thanks to this artifact, to remember, to console itself. At the end of the ceremony, it would say goodbye, allowing to impose their hands on the replica of the hand of the deceased by way of goodbye. Also, said replica could be used as a tombstone that could be integrated into a housing that could receive the ashes of the deceased while serving as a cemetery monument or cinerary.
The cinerary monuments would be burials trend that would suit the deceased who were incinerated. The purpose of this type of monument would be to keep the urn. The ume which is in fact a receptacle intended to collect the ashes of a person cremated.
Whether it is cinerary (following a cremation) or funeral (following an interment), the monument is necessary both to pay homage to the deceased and to facilitate the work of mourning relatives. The purpose of a tombstone, which could be here the replica, artificial, of the hand of a deceased, would be to perpetuate the memory of the missing person. The family can come and collect herself when she wishes; it is, in a way, the last link she has with the person who has left us.
We all need a place of remembrance where we can gather and remember good times spent with those who have left us. Even if we do not go there every day, the cemetery monument allows us to know unconsciously that there is a place where we can keep some contact with the missing beings.
Whether we are in a difficult period of our life or just certain events makes us think back to the deceased (birthdays, death of another person) the cemetery monument would exist so that we can always feel close to those who have left us . It should be a real place of worship and homage to the deceased. Its originality and its personalization will make it possible to have a place possessing a unique monument which will inspire the meditation.
