[0020] In the instant embodiment, the composition of the water based energy drink may include branched chain amino acids such as leucine, iso-leucine and valine along with other amino acids like glutamine and tryptophan. Branched chain amino acids help in the recovery of muscles post exertion. Furthermore, amino acids are the most important macronutrients. Glutamine is another important amino acid that helps in muscle building. Tryptophan is an essential amino acid which is required to form serotonin, a neurotransmitter which plays a key role in the central nervous system.
[0021] As an example, 15 grams of branched chain amino acids may be used, i.e. ,5 grams of leucine, 5 grams of iso-leucine and 5 grams of valine may be used. In addition to the branched chain amino acids, 3.5 grams of amino acids may be used. For example, 3 grams of glutamine and 0.5 grams of tryptophan may be used. In the example embodiment, the weight quantity of said amino acids mentioned, or that may be mentioned at later stages in embodiments of the description, may be per litre of the caffeine-comprising liquid, i.e., in this case, per litre of water.
[0022] In an embodiment, the vitaminic additive is selected from the group consisting of Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Vitamin E, Vitamin B l, Vitamin B2, Vitamin B3, Vitamin B5, Vitamin B6, Vitamin B7 and Vitamin B 12 either individually or in combinations thereof. [0023] In the instant embodiment, the water based energy drink includes Vitamin B 1, Vitamin B2, Vitamin B3, Vitamin B5, Vitamin B6, Vitamin B12 and Vitamin C. Thiamine pyrophosphate synthesized from Vitamin B 1 acts as coenzyme to Pyruvate Dehydrogenase, which is responsible for release of energy. Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin) is an anti-oxidant which helps in breakdown of proteins to amino acids, thereby helping in the release of energy.
Vitamin B3 (Niacin) is a key component of coenzymes NAD and NADP, whereas both NAD & NADP are required by hundreds of enzymes in body. Vitamin B5 (Pantothenic acid) is a component of coenzyme A (CoA), which plays a critical role in the utilization of fats and carbohydrates in energy production, as well as in the manufacture of adrenal hormones and red blood cells. Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxin) helps the body make several neurotransmitters, chemicals that carry signals from one nerve cell to another. Its active form, Pyridoxal
Phosphate acts as coenzyme to Glycogen Phosphorylase, which breaks down Glycogen to Glucose, thus providing source of energy for body. Vitamin B 12 (Cobalamin) is an especially important vitamin for maintaining healthy nerve cells, and it helps in the production of DNA and RNA, the body's genetic material. Lack of Vitamin B 12 causes Anaemia which may lead to fatigue. Hence liberal dose of Vitamin B 12 is desired for energetic body. Vitamin C
(ascorbic acid) is an anti-oxidant that boosts immunity. It helps the body make collagen, an important protein used in strengthening skin, cartilage, tendons and ligaments. Vitamin C is needed for healing wounds, and for repairing and maintaining bones and teeth. Vitamin B9 (Folic acid) is necessary for adequate haemoglobin (Hb) production, where haemoglobin carries oxygen in body. Vitamin B 12 works closely with vitamin B9, also called folate or folic acid, to help make red blood cells and to help iron work better in the body.
[0024] As an example, 234.04 mg of Vitamin B and 75 mg of Vitamin C may be used. Among the 234.04 mg of Vitamin B, the proportion may be as follows: 30 mg of Vitamin B 1, 3 mg of Vitamin B2, 120 mg of Vitamin B3, 40 mg of Vitamin B5, 40 mg of Vitamin B6, 40 meg of Vitamin B 12, 1000 meg of Folic acid may be used. [0025] In an embodiment, the bioactive nutrient additives may be selected from any one of inositol, creatine, carnitine, acetyl carnitine, lipoic acid, gamma- aminobutyric acid, carnosine, choline, cytidine diphosphocholine, dimethyl-amino-ethanol, S-adenosyl-L- methionine, quercetin, lycopene, glycosaminoglycan and phosphatidylserine, either individually or in combinations thereof. [0026] In the instant embodiment, the bioactive nutrient additives present in the water based energy drink are creatine and carnitine. Creatine is a naturally-occurring amino acid (protein building block) that's found in meat and fish, and made by the human body in the liver, kidneys, and pancreas. It is converted into creatine phosphate or phosphocreatine and stored in the muscles, where it is used for energy. Carnitine plays a critical role in energy production. It transports long-chain fatty acids into the mitochondria so they can be oxidized to produce energy. As an example, 1 gram of creatine and 1 gram of carnitine may be used as the bioactive nutrient additives.
[0027] In an embodiment, the herbal additive is comprised of at least one of ginseng, tea, green tea, guarana, grape seed, turmeric (Diferuloyl Methane, curcumin), milk thistle, schisandra, reishi, damiana, chocolate, carob, piperine, and extracts thereof, either individually or in combinations thereof.
[0028] In the instant embodiment, the water based energy drink includes herbal additives such as ginseng, green tea extract and guarana. Ginseng is a good tonic that benefits one's stamina and helps boost energy levels. It helps use oxygen more effectively, and it regulates metabolism, which can increase energy levels. It also acts as nerve tonic and reduces stress levels. Green tea is loaded with antioxidants and nutrients that have powerful effects on the body. This includes improved brain function, fat loss, lower risk of cancer, lower risk of developing type 2 diabetes etc. Guarana is used for weight loss, to enhance athletic performance, as a stimulant, and to reduce mental and physical fatigue. Guarana is commonly used to treat low blood pressure and chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) in some medical practices. As an example, 100 mg of ginseng, 200 mg green tea extract and 1 gram of guarana may be used as the herbal additives.
[0029] In an embodiment, the sweetener is comprised of at least one of sucrose, glucose, fructose, honey, saccharin, aspartame, cyclamate, stevioside, acesulfame k, sucralose, alitame, neohesperidine dc, thaumatin, sucaryl and xylitol, either individually or in combinations thereof.
[0030] In the instant embodiment, the water based energy drink includes required quantity of sucrose. If necessary, sucralose is added. Sucrose provides body with the energy required to perform physical and mental functions. The body breaks down foods such as sucrose and starch into fructose and glucose during digestion and the fructose and glucose are metabolized to release energy. Sucralose is an artificial sweetener and sugar substitute. The majority of ingested sucralose is not broken down by the body, so it is noncaloric. As an example, 25 grams of sucrose may be used, whereas sucralose may be added according to recipe's sweetness.
[0031] In an embodiment, taurine may be added as an ingredient in the water based energy drink. It acts as a neurotransmitter and is essential for the proper functioning of heart and skeletal muscles. It is also essential for the synthesis of bile salts in body. As an example, 5000 mg of taurine may be used.
[0032] In an embodiment, glucuronolactone may be added to the water based energy drink. Glucuronolactone can increase energy levels, reduce sleepiness and improve alertness and reaction time. Glucuronolactone is considered a main component of chondroitin sulfate and is considered by some researchers to be useful in making joints, ligaments and tendons healthy and elastic, and is used in medicine for the treatment of arthritis. It has been shown in research to benefit the liver because of its involvement in detoxification of the liver through glucuronidation processes. As an example, 1500 mg of Glucuronolactone may be added. [0033] In an embodiment, Malic acid may be added to the water based energy drink. It maintains normal Ph in the body (Ph is acid base balance and normal Ph is essential for homeostasis). Malic acid removes fatigue in body and improves exercise tolerance. As an example, 1200-2400 mg of Malic acid may be used.
[0034] In an embodiment, cocoa may be added as an ingredient to the water based energy drink. Cocoa has high anti-cancer antioxidants and helps in keeping the cholesterol level down. As an example, 30 grams of cocoa may be used.
