Description

MULTI-USE DEVICE FOR AGRICULTURAL TASKS
OBJECT OF THE INVENTION The present invention refers to a multifunctional weeding device, which can be used in land clearing, as a support when walking and as a safety tool. In particular, the present invention includes the physical combination of at least a hollow rod, a curved elongated end and a wedge and/or ends, in a folding system, with a series of movable additional elements.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
In rural areas, people perform clearing, cultivation and other related tasks daily. This type of activities involve manual processes including the use of basic tools for cutting weed, such as matchet; and in many cases these are used together with sticks which, although being used for separating different objects, are mainly used for removing the upper part of herbaceous plants, exposing the base thereof so as to be cut with a matchet. This type of tool is very often used in rural areas in Latin America. Traditionally, these sticks are known as hooks or claws, and are made with wooden branches found in countryside areas. One of the drawbacks these hooks have is that their useful life may be short, because of easy deterioration thereof due to environmental conditions, because they can be infected by termite or because they are used as fuel. Some tools are formed by one or more cylindrical rods connected to each other, wherein at one of the ends thereof there are curved sharpened blades, "V"- or "L"- shaped, which are used for cutting (for example US5097910). Other tools include different types of blades, hooks and connections, such as for example that described in US4546831 . In these cases, the implementations are used for removing weed from the ground, perforating and ploughing the ground up to certain depth, leaving aside the combined application of support and removal. There are also several types of implementations involving raking applications, such as in US3930544 describing a garden cultivation implement having multiple sharp ends intended for cutting weed and other undesired growth. Lastly, US2807495 describes a readily-assembled mechanical device having tongs at one the ends thereof, used for catching snakes, frogs and any small animal.
DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION The multifunctional device of the invention provides a simple tool, consisting of only two pieces being assembled; inexpensive, so that it can be affordable for all type of people; easy-to-use, with simple handling instructions; and durable, for which it can be used carbon fibre, polymer resin, aluminium or any other determined material with similar characteristics.
Therefore, an aspect of the invention refers to a device for agricultural tasks characterized in that it comprises:
• a hollow rod comprising:
-at the top thereof: a threaded lid and a grip, and
-at the bottom thereof: a piece having an elongated curved end configured for removing plants and arranged at about 90e with respect to the hollow bar; a wedge being suitable for taking the shoes off and some ends,
where the piece having the elongated end is foldable at the bar axis configuring the device into the stick position.
The device of the present invention is a tool for assisting agricultural tasks. It has an elongated curved end connected to a hollow bar or rod, which can be joined by means of screw, and by means of a folding mechanism. The hollow bar has a threaded lid at the upper part, for it to be used as a deposit. At the lower part there is a fixed wedge, which can be used as a shoehorn for taking off your footwear, that is, when taking off your agricultural shoes or boots. The upper part of this device comprises a grip, which may consist of a hole where a string is inserted in for hanging this tool. DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
FIG 1 Device of the invention. FIG. 2A. Detailed view of the lower part of the device in the form of a hook. FIG. 2B. Detailed view of the lower part of the device in the form of a stick. FIG. 3. Detailed view of the upper part of the device.
PREFERRED EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION
The following is a description of a preferred embodiment of the invention based on the attached figures.
FIG. 1 shows the device of the invention comprising a main bar (1 ), being the longest part, which at the upper part thereof has a threaded lid (2) protecting an inner cavity that may be used for keeping objects of interest. At that same end, there is an orifice (3) for a string (4) to pass through, wherein said string can be used for holding or bearing said tool. At an angle of about 90e with respect to the bar (1 ), there is a piece having a curved elongated end (5), being movable, and arranged in such a way that it can be used for removing grass when it is to be cut with the matchet. Between the bar (1 ) and the end (5) piece there is an attaching element (6) which is the one allowing mobility between parts (1 ) and (5). The device also comprises a wedge (7), which may be used when taking the agriculture boots off. It should be noted that there are oilcloth boots in the market having projection as a help for taking them off once the agricultural tasks are finished.
FIG. 2A and 2B, show a detailed view of the lower part of the disclosed device, which may be in the hook position (see FIG. 2A), or in the form of a stick (see FIG. 2B). The piece (8) does not project when in the hook position for helping cut the grass. This same piece (8) projects upon piece (5) rotation, folding it and situating the device in the stick position. This piece (8), may be used for handling snakes in countryside areas, which are relatively often found therein. FIG. 3, shows a detail of the upper part of the device, wherein the bar (1 ) can be seen, having a hole (3) through which a string (4) is inserted, wherein said string allows bearing the device. The lid (2) covering the bar (9) cavity is also shown, wherein said cavity may be used for keeping items of interest. This lid could feature a threaded or a snap-fit type of closure for closing this cavity.
