  • a cutting means 17 is further provided on the inner portion of the engaged main cap member 1 1 and twistable upper cap member 12 and also engageably secured therewith to rotate simultaneously with the axial motion of the upper cap member 12 when a twisting force is applied thereon.
  • the downward rotating motion of the cutting means 17 then cuts open the frangible seal 16 to immediately dispense the soluble nutrients "N" from the storage compartment 13 into the container "C".
  • the cutting means 17 includes a plurality of spaced apart elongated actuating members 18 provided within the twistable upper cap member 12.
  • actuating members 18 are spacedly arranged in a circular manner similar to the circular shape of the upper cap member 12.
  • Each of the actuating members 18 is formed by opposed first edge 18a and second edge 18b extending from the top wall 12a and spacedly disposed from the externally threaded wall 15a of the upper cap member 12.
  • the second edge 18b has a downwardly extending curvilinear shaped lower portion 18c which terminates towards the tip 18d of the first edge 18a.
  • the cutting means 17 further includes a plurality of spaced apart guide rods 19 extending from the inner wall 13b of the storage compartment 13 and symmetrically arranged and disposed thereon on the inner lower portion of the storage compartment 13 proximate the frangible seal 16. Further included in the cutting means 17 is a cutting member 20 disposed in direct correspondence with the actuating members 18 and guide rods 19, such that the actuating members 18 and guide rods 19 directly actuate and guide the axial motion of the cutting member 20 towards the frangible seal 16 when the upper cap member 12 is twisted and detached from the main cap member 11.
  • the cutting member 20 includes a tubular body 21 in direct communication with the frangible seal 16 and neck portion "P" of the container "C".
  • the cutting member 20 further includes a plurality of interconnected slanted serrations 22 provided along the periphery of the lower edge 21a of the tubular body 21.
  • the cutting member 20 is also provided with a plurality of spaced apart inwardly inclined lugs 23 extending along the inner wall 21b of the tubular body 21 and at least one guide channel 24 provided proximate the upper edge 21c along the outer wall 21d of the tubular body 21.
  • Each of the spaced apart lugs 23 are disposed adjacently in correspondence with each actuating members 18 to enable the downward axial motion of the cutting member 20 towards the frangible seal 16. With this downwards axial motion, the cutting member 20 will cut through the frangible seal 16 when the upper cap member 12 is continuously twisted and detached from the storage compartment 13. More particularly, the curvilinear shape of the edge 18c and tip 18d of the actuating members 18 are directly and adjacently positioned with the inclined lugs 23. This arrangement allows the efficient axial rotation of the cutting member 20 towards the frangible seal 16 when the upper cap member 12 is twisted.
  • the guide channel 24 extends in a horizontal travelling direction "x" on the upper portion of tubular body 21 of the cutting member 20 to a downward travelling directions "y" and terminates towards the serrations 22. Since the guide rods 19 will travel along the horizontal travelling direction "x" and will terminate to the downward travelling directions "y", the dimension of the guide channel 24 must be greater than the guide rods 19 in order to allow the smooth downward axial motion of the cutting member 20 thereon with respect to the guide rods 19.
  • the soluble nutrients "N" inside the storage compartment 13 is released by the cutting means 17, more specifically, the rotational motion of the cutting member 20 simultaneous with the axial motion of the upper cap member 12 when a twisting force is applied thereon.
  • the downward rotating motion of the cutting member 20 then cuts open the surface of the frangible seal 16 by means of slanted serrations 22 to immediately and efficiently dispense the soluble nutrients "N" from the storage compartment 13 to the container "C".
  • the twist dispensing closure means 10 includes a first tamper-evidencing band 25 frangibly secured at the lower edge 14b of the main skirt portion 14 of main cap member 11 adjacent the upper edge "U” of the neck portion "P” of container "C".
  • a second tamper-evidencing band 26 is frangibly secured at the lower edge 15b of the auxiliary skirt portion 15 of the upper cap member 12 adjacent the upper edge 1 c of the main skirt portion 14 of the main cap member 11.
  • the twist dispensing closure means 10 of the present invention is initially in its closed position wherein the soluble nutrients "N" are pre- stored in the storage compartment 13 and the main skirt portion 15 is engageably secured to the neck portion "P" of the container “C” containing liquid therein.
  • the second tamper-evidencing band 26 is first detached from the lower edge 15b of the auxiliary skirt portion 15 of the upper cap member 12.
  • the upper cap member 12 is now twisted by applying a force "T" in the counter clockwise rotational direction to initiate the actuating members 18 to push the lugs 23 and allow the cutting member 20 to simultaneously rotate axially in the downward direction towards the frangible seal 16.
  • the guide rods 19 travel along the guide channels 24 to prevent the cutting blade 20 from being displaced along the axis of the upper member 12 during rotation and further maintain the steady rotational motion thereof.
  • the upper cap member 12 is continuously twisted to consequently assist the continuous downward rotation of the cutting member 20.
  • the slanted serrations 22 will immediately cut partially open the frangible seal 16 upon touching its surface to release and dispense the soluble nutrients "N" to the liquid inside the container "C". A clicking sound will occur to signal that the cutting blade 20 has terminated its motion and locked itself in the main cap member 1 1.
  • the upper cap member 12 is then twisted clockwise to close the container “C” for the purpose of shaking and mixing the soluble nutrients "N” with the liquid inside the container “C” to prevent spillage during the shaking and mixing thereof. Afterwhich, when the mixed liquid and soluble nutrients "N” inside the container “C” is already available for drinking, the upper cap member 12 is then continuously twisted counterclockwise until it is free from the storage container of the main cap member 11 .
  • the whole twist dispensing closure means 10 may be remove from the container “C” when the soluble nutrients "N” has already been mixed with the liquid inside the container by detaching the first tamper-evidencing band 25 from the lower edge 14b of the main skirt portion 14 and the neck portion "P" of the container “C”. The main cap member 1 1 is then twisted counterclockwise until the whole twist dispensing closure means 10 is free from the container "C”.
  • the present invention solves one of the problems of the dispensing closures by providing a twist dispensing closure means for containers that has an efficient cutting means to easily dispense the solid medicaments to the attached associated container for the immediate mixing with the liquid therein. Abstract

La présente invention concerne un moyen de fermeture de distribution à torsion pour un récipient comprenant un élément couvercle principal ayant un compartiment de stockage principal et une partie collerette principale pendant au compartiment de stockage et pouvant entrer en prise avec la partie col d'un récipient et un élément couverture supérieur pouvant être tordu pouvant entrer en prise avec l'élément couvercle principal et entourant le compartiment de stockage. Un joint d'étanchéité cassable se situe sur l'ouverture de la partie col dudit récipient et en communication directe avec le fond ouvert dudit compartiment de stockage. Un moyen de découpe se situe également sur la partie intérieure de l'élément couvercle principal et de l'élément couvercle supérieur en prise et est fixé en prise avec ceux-ci de façon à tourner simultanément avec le mouvement axial de l'élément couvercle supérieur lorsqu'une force de torsion y est appliquée afin d'ouvrir le joint d'étanchéité cassable et de distribuer le contenu du compartiment de stockage vers le contenu liquide dans le récipient.
