Description
MULTIFUNCTIONAL SHOPPING METHOD AND SYSTEM INVOLVING 3 DIMENSIONAL DIGITAL FITTING ROOM MEASUREMENT
Field of the Invention
The present invention is intended for users who do not want to waste time by walking around and shopping in shopping malls and stores and/or do not want to use the fitting rooms in stores in order to try on the products that they want to purchase during shopping due to various reasons. It relates to a multifunctional shopping method and system that involve 3-dimensional digital fitting room measurement that enab!esusers to see the products on the 3-dimensional body images that are in the actual size of their own bodieson their mobile devices instead of trying on in fitting rooms the products they need to purchase while walking around shopping malls and/or that enables them to purchase online the products that will fit well without ever going to the store.
Description of the Prior Art
Even though shopping malls and stores are still the most preferred way of shopping throughout the world, there are many who complain about the limited time and particularly the crowds in metropolitan cities. As social structures change and technology advances, so do the consumption behaviors of people. Most people shop online instead of going to shopping malls, prefer ordering their food online and having it served to their homes rather than going to restaurants and make use of their free time again online with interests such as games, hobbies, etc.
The clothing industry, which is the second most demanded industry after the food industry that is a basic need, faces a great deal of problems. According to the surveys conducted, majority of people, regardless of gender, indicate that it is very time- consuming and tiresome to look for a cloth that will fit them well when shopping in stores. The most salient thing is that people express that they dislike trying on clothes in fitting rooms or find it boring. For this reason, many people buy clothes by just looking at them and without trying them on, and then, they have to return the clothes when they do not fit or when their model is not fancied.
We race against the fast pace of life and want to squeeze a lot in a limited time and produce practical solutions. At this point, internet facilitates our lives a lot by offering various options. It can make socialization and basic needs like shopping a lot enjoyable. Online shopping dramatically grows every year, and the clothing industry is the most demanded industry online according to the statistics. Based on all online shopping figures, clothing industry ranks as the leader of the sector by a share of 50%. A greater part of footwear, jewelry and accessory sales that follow the clothing industry are also associated with the clothing industry. The industry breaks sales records every year.
Although there are many people that enjoy shopping for different things online, those who are prejudiced against and do not prefer shopping online are greater in number. Those who buy clothes online for the first time and experience problems with the size of clothes or who like a cloth a lot when they see it online but do not like the way it looks on them might sometimes not prefer shopping online again. Many methods have been tried to find a solution for this field, which has not realized even half its potential yet; however, the size problem as the basic problem has yet to be solved.
With the existing practices, people make a selection by looking at the images of the products that perfectly fit on a model; in return, such selections cause people to experience problems with the models and sizes of the clothes, dislike and return the products, pay shipment fee again to return the products and/or feel dissatisfied with the products they have purchased. As to shopping in stores, people have to try on and even purchase the products that have been tried on by many people before. In order to solve this problem, it is intended to make more practical use of time, the most valuable thing in life, by appealing to people from walks of life from the manufacturer to the consumer. With such system that has been developed to solve the size problem and make the shopping experience more pleasant, it is intended to eliminate any bias and set a higher standard. In the prior art, there are developments, studies and patent/utility model applications intended for generally virtual shopping method and 3-dimensional virtual shopping. For example:
The patent application number TR201103237 relates to an interactive three- dimensional shopping system that offers uninterrupted service to end users via servers
that will be active 24/7. Such system, which is not in line with existing shopping or social networking sites in practice, offers the convenience and ease of one stop shoppingwithout getting bored and enjoyably in areas of basic need such as shopping, networking, chatting, gaming, listening to music and buying food and drink. Similarly, the patent application number TR200901630pertains to an online shopping system that enables customers to select a desired product group, brand and store and place their shopping orders at their homes and offices without needing any internet access on telephones or computers, and it contains at least one base station that transfers order and/or payment information between stores and the customer by designating the suitable store and at least one screenmatic that enables two-way transfer of the aforementioned information to the aforementioned base station via at least one wireless communication module located on it.
The present invention has been inspired from the existing states and intended to solve the disadvantages and/or shortcomings indicated above.

The standing position is very important; therefore, the feet must be aligned with the footprint figure located on the platform. The screen (12) displays the information that the user (U) is required to stand still. The user (U) is asked to stand still without changing position on the rotating platform for about 10 seconds (the time can be adjusted) after hearing the warning sound.
The user (U) then presses the start key on the screen (12) of the panel. The measurement fitting room (10) starts rotating when the user (U) is standing on it. The platform slowly rotates 360 degrees for approximately 10 seconds while the user (U) is standing still. During such rotation, the 3-dimensional camera (20) integrated into the panel (12) performs body scan as the body mass is being calculated and the visual measurement is taken. The visual measurement taken is displayed on the control panel and screen (12). The scanning of the user (U) is performed smoothly without getting undressed regardless of whether the user (U) is male, female, child or elderly.
After the scanning operation is completed, the user (U) is asked to fill out the system (1) registration form on the screen of the panel (12) and to enter his or her personal details such as telephone number, electronic mail address, etc. After entering the details, the user (U) is expected to give approval. Upon approval of the user (U), the measurement data and the system (1) registration form filled out by the user (U) are transmitted to the main server. The main server (30) sends to the telephone number of the user (U) a confirmation message via a method such as short message service (SMS), etc. Such SMS also contains an access code and a link to allow the user (U) to access the website. The user (U) clicks on the link sent, which directs him or her to the homepage of the relevant website. The access code sent to the mobile phone and the telephone number of the user (U) are entered in the relevant fields in the website to verify the account of the user (U) and to enable his or her access to the system (1) (Figure-3). Subsequent to such quick operations, a personal profile is created on the website. A 3- dimensional photograph of the user (U) appears on the personal profile page. A 3- dimensional virtual body will have been created automatically based on the detailed whole body measurements. The virtual body created automatically will have the actual face of the user (U). Height, weight, waist size, hip size, bust size and all body measurements of the user (U) along with his or her muscle-body fat index and heart rate information will have been registered in the system (1 ). The information can be displayed numerically on the screen (12). Since it is personal, the personal profile page cannot be displayed by others. The clothes put on sale on the website by companies and the size of such clothes are indicated by the companies, and the data received at the main server (30) from the supplier's server (60) are matched with the body measurements of the user (U) to the satisfaction of the user (U) thanks to the module (70) designed compatibly with the system. Since cloth models and sizes of some companies differ from that of other companies, only the products that match with the body measurements of the user (U) are included on the personal profile of the user (U). This way, the size problem is eliminated. If desired, the user (U) may set the size of the clothes 1 size smaller or larger, choose the cloth that fits best and start shopping. After having his or her measurements taken once, the user (U) may use the module (70) on all computers (40)
and mobile devices (50) using his or her own image and measurements whenever and wherever the user (U) wants thanks to such system (1) (Figure-2).
By clicking on the clothes that the user (U) wants to see on the 3-dimensional virtual body, the user (U) may display the selected clothes from all angles on the 3- dimensional body. Provided that the sizes of other products such as footwear, jewelry, glasses and hats aside from clothes like skirts, shirts, pants, etc. are registered in the system (1), they may be easily displayed on the virtual body, different combinations may be created and these combinations can be saved for displaying later, if desired.
The 3-dimensional digital fitting room measurement method (1000) that takes the images and measurements of users (U) by performing their visual scan via 3- dimensional cameras (20), that features a measurement fitting room (10) that adds the body mass measurement received from the measurement panel (11 ) to such image and measurements and that allows users (U) to shop online for cloths that fit them well without going to stores involves:
- Installation of a 3-dimensional digital fitting room measurement system (1 ) in stores (1001),
User (U) standing on the measurement panel (11) inside the measurement fitting room (10) located in the store (1002),
- User (U) taking the starting position standing on the 360-degree rotating measurement panel (11 ) in the standing direction indicated with a footprint and opening his or her arms to the sides, the elbows not touching the body (1003), The screen (12) displaying the information that the user (U) is required to stand still without moving for t seconds after the warning sound (1004),
- The measurement being started by the user (U) via the control screen and panel (12) (1005),
- The measurement panel (11) inside the measurement fitting room (10) slowly starting to rotate 360 degrees with the user (U) standing on the measurement panel (11) (1006),
- The 3-dimensional camera (20) integrated into the panel (12) performing the body scan while measuring the body mass when rotating and taking the visual measurement (1007),
- The visual body measurement taken being displayed on the control panel and screen (12) (1008),
- The body scan of the user (U) being completed (1009),
User (U) entering his or her personal information in the system via the control screen and panel (12) (1010),
- The measurement data and personal information being transmitted to the main server (30) upon approval of the user (U) (1011 ),
- The main server (30) sending to the registered telephone number of the user (U) a short confirmation message containing the website access code and the link (1012),
- User (U) being directed to the homepage of the relevant website via the link sent to his or her mobile phone (1013),
The access code sent to the mobile phone and/or electronic mail address of the user (U) being entered in the relevant field on the website to verify the account of the user (U) and enable his or her access to the system (1014),
- Creation of a personal profile on the website for the user (U) after he or she logs into the system(1015),
- Automatic creation of a 3-dimensional visual body possessing the actual features of the user (U) based on the scanned body measurements of the user (U) in the personal profile created for the user (U) (1016),
Height, weight, waist size, hip size, bust size and all body measurements of the user (U) along with his or her muscle-body fat index and heart rate information being displayed on the screen (12) (1017),
- The data related to the clothes put on sale by companies on websites and mode! sizes received at the main server (30) from the supplier's server (70) being matched with the body measurements of the user (U) to the satisfaction of the user (U) thanks to the module (70) designed compatibly with the system
(1018) ,
Inclusion of only the products that match with the body measurements of the user (U) and/or all the other products in the personal profile of the user (U)
(1019) ,
- User (U) displaying the products that match with his or her body measurements and/or all the other products on his or her 3-dimensional virtual body (1020) (Figure-4).
The user (U) can receive suggestions from other users (U) registered in the system (1) and/or fashion designers on cloth selections, if desired. The user (U) shares his or her
virtual body on the opinion pool thanks to the share-in-the-pool feature in order to receive suggestions. The virtual body added to the pool may be displayed and dressed by other members and fashion designers. The combinations made by fashion designers and other users (U) on the virtual body are suggested to the user (U). In a short while, tens of options in different styles are presented to the liking of the user (U). The user (U) scores and comments on such combinations. The user (U) purchases the combination he or she likes.
The user (U) or the fashion designer who has created the combination that is sold makes money and scores points as a sort of award for his or her effort. The users (U) level up by scoring points, and they may even become fashion designers or provide consultancy to companies. In this system, which is built around a win-win logic, everybody is a customer, fashion designer and volunteering employee. For example, a fashion designer creates a concept for the store window of the system, scores combinations and may give suggestions to users (U) and companies/brands. A dietician may acquaint with the user (U) via a free pre-consultation meeting, provide information on how to maintain the diet program and then get the user (U) to start the diet program. If desired, the user (U) may get an appointment with the dietician for a face-to-face meeting. If desired, a personal trainer may meet with the user (U) of the system via a pre-consultation meeting, provide information on the user's (U) physique and health and then prepare a workout program. An appointment can be made for coaching, if desired. An aesthetician may provide preliminary information to the user (U) by requesting his or her scanned 3-dimensional image that contains only the face or the whole body structure; or the user (U) may meet with a beautician to receive suggestions and make an appointment with the beautician, if desired.
If desired, the user (U) may have periodical body scans and see his or her weight and body measurement analysis, may access his or her previous measurements and have a positive/negative forecast of himself or herself and keep statistical tabs on his or her measurements. Such positive/negative data obtained may be sent as information to users (U) of the system such as dieticians, aestheticians, personal trainers, etc.
The users (U) embrace and internalize the system (1) through activities such as the bests of the week (the most frequent shopper of the week, the shopper with the best combination of the week, the shopper with the most combination sales of the week),
etc. The details of the products sold and paid for are notified to relevant companies along with the delivery addresses by the system (1). Thus, the user (U) may purchase the product directly from the manufacturer (factory), and the products may be delivered in a shorter period since no intermediary is involved in the process.
As the user (U) can archive the products he or she has purchased, he or she can combine the products purchased with the products already owned again on the three- dimensional virtual body. This way, the user (U) can decide which combination he or she wants to wear from among the clothes owned. Thus, the user (U) is saved the trouble of trying on clothes for hours. The user (U) may share his or her virtual closet enabling other users (U) to score or comment on the cloths in his or her virtual closet. Bartering and purchasing actions among users (U) are also possible.
Users (U) may dress their virtual bodies registered in the system however they like and own their own 3-dimensional trinkets. The miniature trinkets that can be designed in different postures and with different accessories may be produced with 3D printers and delivered to the user (U) in color.
Thanks to a barcode and/or QR code system to be employed when companies send the information related to their products, the users (U) will be able to receive a notification on the authenticity of the product, see the product they like on their virtual bodies on the mobile device without trying on the product and shop from the store, if desired, by means of pointing the barcode and/or QR code on the product to their mobile devices when shopping in stores. Furthermore, it will be easier for companies to perform stock tracking thanks to such barcoding system.
In the presence of such basic concepts, it is possible to develop a great variety of applications of the multifunctional shopping method and system (1) via the 3- dimensional digital fitting room measurement subject to the invention. The present invention, which may not be limited to the examples given herein, is essentially as defined in the appended claims.
