Definitions
- Formwork panel or accessory for a formwork or formwork panel is Formwork panel or accessory for a formwork or formwork panel .
- the present invention concerns a formwork panel or an accessory for a formwork or formwork panel.
- a formwork is a temporarily provided mold or counter mold into which concrete is poured.
- the mold is intended to keep the concrete and any reinforcement in place during the pouring and curing.
- Such a mold may consist of various materials such as wood, plastic or steel.
- the formwork When the concrete has cured, the formwork is usually removed and, in the case of a modular formwork, re-used in a subsequent application.
- a formwork is usually built by carpenters and the reinforcement is provided by reinforcing steel braiders.
- a modular formwork is a formwork built of separate formwork elements: formwork panels which are mutually positioned by means of tie rods, which are aligned by means of props and which are coupled to one another by means of formwork locks and clamps.
- Each formwork panel is usually made up of a framework, i.e. vertical and horizontal supports onto which a form plate made of wood, plastic or metal has been provided.
- the frameworks of a modular formwork may consist of metal such as for example steel or aluminum, wood or plastic.
- a problem arising with formworks in general and with modular formworks in particular is the poor connection of the formwork panels to the base.
- a bad connection of a formwork panel to the base may result in for example mud or other unwanted substances seeping into the space inside the formwork.
- a major disadvantage is for example that the formwork is not stably supported by the deformable elements.
- the present invention aims to remedy the above-mentioned disadvantages of the known formworks and possibly other disadvantages as well.
- the invention concerns a formwork panel, wherein such a formwork panel comprises lateral faces and crosscut sides, wherein at least one of the crosscut sides is provided with one or several deformable strips, wherein the intermediate distance between the outermost edges of one or several of said deformable strips is larger than or equal to 75% of the width of the crosscut side of the formwork panel and wherein the height of one or several of said deformable strips is smaller than one third of said intermediate distance.
- the formwork panel may be provided with at least one groove on at least one of its crosscut sides in which is provided or may be provided at least one deformable strip.
- a formwork panel usually comprises a framework provided with a form plate on one side.
- the thickness of the formwork panel is in other words determined by the thickness of the framework and by the thickness of the form plate.
- the outward facing walls of the outermost vertical and horizontal supports of the framework usually also form the crosscut sides of the formwork panel.
- These supports may be plastic or metal profiles or for example also massive wooden beams.
- the grooves may be provided in a variety of ways.
- the grooves are chambers provided in profiles, for example extruded aluminum profiles or profiles made of PVC or another material .
- the present invention also concerns an accessory for a formwork or formwork panel, wherein such an accessory for a formwork or formwork panel substantially consists of a straight slat-shaped element with lateral faces that are wider than the side edges, wherein at least one of the wider lateral faces is provided with one or several deformable strips, wherein the intermediate distance between the outermost edges of said one or several deformable strips is larger than or equal to 75% of the width B of the wider lateral face concerned of the straight slat-shaped element, and wherein the height H of one or several of said deformable strips is smaller than one third of said intermediate distance.
- Such an accessory for a formwork or formwork panel may be provided with at least one groove on one of its side walls, in which at least one deformable strip is provided or can be provided.
- a major advantage of the invention consists in that cement or concrete is prevented from flowing out of the inner space of the formwork and also that sand or any other polluting or unwanted substances are prevented from flowing in the inner space.
- the advantage of the accessory for a formwork or formwork panel according to the invention with respect to the formwork panel according to the invention consists in that said technical effects may be obtained with existing formwork panels.
- a major advantage of a formwork panel and an accessory according to the invention consists in that, during use, a good, stable support is obtained underneath the formwork with the aid of one or several of said deformable strips.
- the height of one or several of said deformable strips is sufficiently low to prevent any annoying bulging thereof.
- said one or several deformable strips is or are such that when using the formwork panel or the accessory in a formwork panel or a formwork, the deformable strips will deform such under the applied weight that at least on the side of the formwork or the formwork panel where concrete is poured, the nearest edge concerned of said one or several deformable strips will extend up to the edge of this side of the formwork or the formwork panel, so that a seamless or nearly seamless transition is obtained there between the respective deformable strip and the formwork or the formwork panel.
- deformable strips may be adjusted depending on the application, for example by proceeding by trial and error or by calculating their deformation in advance or by determining it with the known techniques on the basis of the loads that are exerted on the respective deformable strip or strips.

- figure 3 shows a view in perspective of a part of the framework according to figure 1 with deformable strips provided in one of the profiles;
- figure 4 shows a section of the profiles indicated by arrows F2A and F2B in figure 1, but in this case with applied deformable strips;
- figure 5 is a view in perspective of an accessory for a formwork or formwork panel according to the invention
- figures 6 to 8 represent an alternative for the section of figure 2, for the application of deformable strips respectively, after deformable strips have been provided and after the deformable strips have been deformed under the applied loads when using the formwork panel;
- FIGS 9 to 11 represent, in an analogous manner as in figures 6 to 8, sections of an alternative embodiment of an accessory according to the invention.
- Figure 1 represents a framework 1 of a formwork panel, which framework 1 is built in this case of two vertically represented supports 2A and 2B and three horizontally represented supports 3A, 3B and 3C.
- the circumferential dimensions of the form plate substantially correspond to the circumferential dimensions of the framework 1.
- FIG. 1 represents a section of the profiles used for the support 2B represented on the right and standing upright in figure 1 and for the support 3A represented on the top and lying.
- these supports 2B and 3A have an outer wall or casing 5 with a rectangular section, having two short sides 5A and 5B of 60 millimeters in this case and two long sides 5C and 5D of 120 millimeters in this case.
- One of the long sides in this case side 5D, is provided with two interruptions 6A and 6B, providing the profiles with two grooves 6' and 6' ' .
- interruptions 6A and 6B give access to the inner space 7 in the casing 5.
- this inner space 7 is divided here in four subspaces 7A to 7D.
- Internal ribs 8 are provided to this end, i.e. one internal rib 8A parallel to the long sides 5C and 5D and at a distance of 20 millimeters from the long side 5D in this case, and two internal ribs 8b and 8C parallel to the short sides 5A and 5B, both at a distance of 30 millimeters from the nearest bordering short side 5A and 5B respectively.
- each of the grooves 6' and 6' ' is provided a deformable strip 9, in this case in the shape of an extruded rubber strip 9 with, seen as a cross-section, an octagonal chamber 10 on the one hand and a rectangular element 11 connected to the latter on the other hand, which is provided with two fins 12A and 12B in this embodiment.
- one or both fins 12 can be omitted and/or can be replaced by other widenings and/or that several widenings or fins can be provided.
- Figure 3 shows a part of the framework 1 with deformable strips 9 applied in the support 2B represented horizontally in figure 3. Note that the framework 1 is oriented differently here compared to figure 1.
- Figure 4 shows a section of the supports 2B and 3A with deformable strips 9 provided in the grooves 6' and 6' ' .
- the deformable strip 9 is partially introduced in the chamber 7A or 7B and extends partially beyond the wall 5, through the interruptions 6A and 6B .
- a formwork is built by means of one or several of such formwork panels, wherein at least one deformable strip 9, in this case the protruding parts of the extruded rubber strips 9 in the shape of the octagonal chamber 10, is or are placed on the base.
- a formwork panel comprising a framework 1 as described can be placed on the base in two manners, namely upright or lying, in other words with the vertical supports 2B or with the horizontal support 3A resting on the base.
- a reinforcement may be provided in the space to be delimited and concrete is poured.
- the concrete cannot seep away at the bottom, nor a watery cement solution, and neither can pollution end up in the delimited space via the outside.
- the rubber strips 9 fit up too close to the base, even if it is uneven.
- the octagonal chamber is thereby very suitable since the deformation evolves substantially such that the standing lateral walls are laterally moved practically undeformed.
- bottom side remains directed downward substantially undeformed.
- the deformation mainly occurs at the angular points which act as hinges as if it were.
- the pressure on the deformable strip 9 will be lower and, consequently, the latter will be less deformed and thus reach lower, and thus prevent openings being formed between a formwork panel and the base. Even in those places, the standing side walls remain quasi undeformed and oriented upward.
- Figure 5 shows an accessory 13 with a formwork or formwork panel .
- the accessory 13 with a formwork or formwork panel mainly concerns a flat slat, made in this case as an extruded aluminum profile.
- the section of the profile as represented substantially corresponds to the section of the profiles used for the above-discussed supports 2B and 3A, with some major differences .
- this profile differs from the section represented in figure 2 and 4 in that two extra internal ribs 8D and 8E are provided.
- the inner rib 8D is provided between the interruption 6A and the nearby short side 5A, whereas the inner rib 8E is provided between the interruption 6B and the nearby short side 5B .
- the section also has a rectangular outer wall or casing 5 with two short sides 5A and 5B of 30 millimeters in this case and two long sides 5C and 5D of 120 millimeters as well .
- the profile used for the accessory 13 for a formwork or formwork panel according to figure 5 has a smaller total height compared to the profile represented in figures 2 and 4.
- the two short sides 5A and 5B are provided with recesses 14, for example every 1 1 ⁇ 2 meter.
- the accessory 13 for a formwork or formwork panel is also provided with deformable strips 9.
- the use of the accessory 13 for a formwork or formwork panel is simple and primarily intended to be used as an aid with existing formwork panels. Indeed, by first providing an accessory 13 for a formwork or formwork panel according to the invention on the base, and thereon an available conventional formwork panel, substantially the same result is obtained as when using a formwork panel according to the invention as described above and as represented in figures 1 to 4.
- coupling means such as clamps, which are not represented, may be provided to connect the accessory 13 to the conventional formwork panel placed upon the latter.
- the coupling means may be partly placed in the recesses 14 and partly co-operate with the formwork panel placed thereon.
- the deformable strips 9 must be provided with an octagonal chamber 10.
- the part that makes contact with the base can take many forms, such as for example round or oval or any polygonal shape .
- a deformable strip 9 may be connected to a profile in some other way, for example glued or screwed. It is also clear that neither the profiles of the framework 1 of a formwork panel on which deformable strips are provided, nor the profile which is used for the accessory for a formwork or formwork panel should be executed as described above.
- a formwork panel or an accessory 13 for a formwork or formwork panel can be used more than once and are particularly suitable for professional use on construction sites.
- Figure 6 represents a section of a support 20 and a form plate 21 which together form a part of a formwork panel 22 according to the invention.
- the support 20 this time consists of a hollow, extruded, longitudinal profile 22 with an outer casing 23 comprising a portion 24 with a predominantly rectangular section, formed of two short sides 25 and 26 and two long sides 27 and 28.
- the outer casing 23 is widened, wherein a lateral portion 29 is provided on the portion 24 with a rectangular section extending along the length of the profile 22.
- the top side 30 of this lateral portion 29 is flat, with a width I equal to the width J of the form plate 21, and this flat portion 31 serves as a support for the form plate 21.
- This shape of the support 20 is advantageous in that the form plate 22 is embedded in the latter so to say and is supported by it.
- the support 20 is further provided, on the long side 28, with two grooves 32 and 33 having a T-shaped inner profile, extending in particular along both side edges 34 and 35 of the profile 22.
- the T-shape is obtained by means of hook-shaped portions 36 directed towards each other and which are connected to each other via a bottom 37.
- the lateral portion 29 hereby largely forms the groove 32, whereas the groove 33 is formed by portions of the opposite corner edge 38 of the profile 22.
- Figure 7 illustrates how deformable strips 9, which further have a shape which is entirely equal to the shape of the deformable strips 9 from figure 4, can be provided in the grooves 32 and 33.
- intermediate distance D between the outermost edges 39 of the deformable strips 9 is larger than or equal to 75% of the width B of the respective crosscut side 40 of the formwork panel 22.
- the height H of the deformable strips 9 is smaller than one third of that intermediate distance D.
- the deformable strips 9 are such that, after their application to a formwork panel 22, they will only extend with a limited thickness F past the crosscut side 40 concerned.
- This thickness F preferably amounts to not more than 4 cm, for example, more preferably not more than 3 cm and most preferably not more than 2 cm.
- Figure 7 represents the unloaded and thus non-deformed condition of the deformable strips 9, whereas figure 8 schematically represents what the deformable strips 9 preferably look like after being deformed according to the invention .
- the deformable strips 9 will deform in such a way that at least on the side of the formwork panel 22 where concrete is poured, i.e. in this case on the side 41 with form plate 21, the nearest edge 39 concerned of the deformable strip 9 concerned will extend up to the edge 34 of this side of the formwork panel 22, such that a seamless or practically seamless transition is obtained there between the deformable strip 9 concerned and the formwork panel 22.
- Figures 9 to 11 show an accessory 42 to be applied with a formwork or formwork panel.
- This accessory 42 mainly forms, as in the previous cases, a straight slat-shaped element with a substantially rectangular section 43 formed of lateral faces 44 and 45 which are wider than the side edges 46 and 47.
- the accessory is one of the wider lateral faces 45 provided with two grooves 32 and 33 with a T-shaped inner section whose shape corresponds exactly to the grooves 32 and 33 from figures 6 to 8.
- the accessory is not made hollow, although it is not excluded according to the invention, but it forms a full core 48.
- the accessory 42 with the full core 48 has no lateral portion 29 as in figures 6 to 8, since it is designed to be mounted under an existing formwork panel which is already composed of supports and a form plate.
- deformable strips 9 can be provided in the grooves 32 and 33.
- the intermediate distance D between the outermost edges 39 of these deformable strips 9 is in an analogous way larger than or equal to 75% of the width B of the wider lateral face 45 concerned of the straight slat-shaped element 42, and the height H of the deformable strips 9 is smaller than one third of said intermediate distance D.
- the accessory 42 is also provided with a groove 49 having a T-shaped section which serves to provide coupling means 50 in, having the shape of hammer head bolts 51, by turning them according to arrow K.
- more or less grooves or strips can be applied.
- only one deformable strip 9 can be applied which is provided in one, two or several grooves, or several deformable strips 9 can be provided in separate grooves .
- the intermediate distance D between the outermost edges 39 on said one or several deformable strips 9 must be kept as large as possible, compared to the width B of the formwork panel 22 or accessory 42 concerned, and in the loaded, deformed condition, this intermediate distance D must be as close as possible to said width B.
- profiles may be optionally made of plastic, for example by using extrusion techniques, and that one or several deformable strips can be provided by means of co-extrusion.
