INDEX TO RELATED APPLICATIONS
This application claims benefit to U.S. Provisional Patent Application Serial No. 62/138,780 filed March 26, 2015 the disclosure of which is incorporated herein by reference in its entirety .
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
As is commonly known, persons like to change blankets,
comforters, and other types of bedding materials. However, changing these materials often requires stocking and storing many bulky articles. The present invention addresses this need by providing a bedding that has a changeable outer portion that connects to a receiving portion.
l SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
In one embodiment, the present invention is an apparatus for providing changeable bedding, said apparatus comprising: a replaceable outer cover; a receiving portion; a connector for connecting said outer cover to said receiving portion, whereby connecting said outer cover to said receiving portion forms an internal cavity suitable for placement of soft bedding material
In one embodiment, the outer cover has an outer surface and in inner surface. In one embodiment, the outer cover has
decorative outer surface and a non-decorative inner surface.
In one embodiment, the outer cover is removably attached to said receiving portion.
In one embodiment, the outer cover is removably attached to said receiving portion and said receiving portion is formed of similar material to said outer cover. In one embodiment, the outer cover is removably attached to said receiving portion and said receiving portion is formed of different material from said outer cover.
In one embodiment, the outer cover is formed of flexible material and said receiving portion is formed of rigid or semi rigid material.
The present invention also contemplates a method for changing blanket covers and for changing a blanket visible surface, said method comprising the steps of:
providing a system as disclosed herein with said cover secured onto said receiving portion with said connectors; providing either at least one additional outer cover, or configuring said outer cover with surface indicia on said inner surface and said outer surface;
removing said connectors;
removing said cover secured onto said receiving portion with said connectors;
positioning either a different outer cover from said at least one additional outer cover onto said receiving portion, or reversing said outer cover with surface indicia on said inner surface and said outer surface; and engaging said connectors to connect positioned cover onto said receiving portion.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE SEVERAL VIEWS OF THE DRAWING
Fig. 1 is a perspective view demonstrating one embodiment of the replaceable blanket cover according to the present invention.
Fig. 2 is a perspective view demonstrating replacement blanket cover according to the present invention, whereby the cover is set within a frame.
Fig. 3 is a side cross-section view of one embodiment of the present invention.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
4 The present invention relates to a unique blanket and/or bedding system whereby the cover is removable and replaceable. Cover 10 includes a first receiving edge 12, a second receiving edge 14, a third receiving edge 16, and a fourth receiving edge 18. In general, blankets and bedding are provided in rectangular configurations. However, any desired configuration is
contemplated use in the present invention and any polygonal shape, circular shape, irregular shape, or combinations thereof is further contemplated as being suitable.
The detachable cover 20 has a plurality of fasteners 24 that are constructed and arranged to mate with fastener receivers 22. Cover 20 has outer or visible cover surface 20a and inner cover surface 26. Inner cover surface 26 of cover 20 is constructed and arranged to contact inner filling 27 that is contained within an internal cavity 32 of blanket system 10. In one embodiment, outer cover surface 20a is constructed and arranged with surface indicia, including, but no t limited to, solid colors, color patterns, visual displays, and combinations thereof.
5 In conventional bedding, if one desires to change the appearance of a blanket, additional blankets need to be provided. The present invention provides a changeable cover 20 whereby significant cost savings and storage simplicity is achieved. Changing cover 20 changes the look and appearance of the blanket in blanket system 10.
In one embodiment, each of outer surface 20a and inner surface 26 have visual indicia thereon and system 10 provides as single cover 20 that is reversible.
In another embodiment, a secondary frame 28 is constructed and arranged to hold each of first receiving edge 12, second receiving edge 14, third receiving edge 16, and fourth receiving edge 18, in a fixed position providing for a bedding apparatus that still maintains the changeable cover nature of the present invention .
As is generally known, persons that use blankets and/or bedding often would like to change their appearance. However, short of stocking many different types of blankets and/or bedding, it becomes very difficult. The present invention provides for replaceable cover 20, therefore providing a single apparatus that can be customized with a plurality of colors and/or styles. As best demonstrated in Fig. 3, being a cross-section of one embodiment of the apparatus of the present invention,
replaceable cover 20 is attached with fastener 24 onto backing 30, thus creating internal cavity 32. Internal cavity 21 contains filler being appropriate soft bedding material 27 as desired. Fillers include, but are not limited to feathers, cotton, down, and other materials known in the art to stuff blankets .
In one embodiment, fasteners 24 are Easy Snap or snap fit type button fasteners for quick removal. The system 10 is an improvement over a conventional duvet cover in that system 10 is user friendly meaning no more stuffing the duvet into the cover, simply lay it out and snap together the layers . Quick change of top 20 and interchangeable with other colors and/or patterns . In one embodiment, fasteners 24 are provided a decorative buttons with surface indicia 24a visible when system 10 is closed and can be replaced to suit the individuals taste.
One significant advantage of system 10 is the easy removal, was and put back together.
Thus, the present invention is novel and useful in that many different looking blankets are configured using a single base, being the receiving potion and the inner cavity containing filler, and changing the outer cover as desired.
